Stumbled across this place the other week after walking down a small side street.
I guess it wont be long before the casino operators buy up the land and knock it all down.
Anyone know the history of this place? Interesting having a walk around. Seems awfully small for a main town prison. My photo of the medical shack seems to have been lost.
Front gate
Watch towers on corners
An abandoned prison with a somewhat abandoned Pearl City in the background
Inner gate
Kitchen with chimneys for charcoal fired woks
Eating area? (cellblock A1 behind)
Cellblock A1
Barbed wire covering gangway in cellblock with old broken roof tile
Cells (with attached bathroom on end of each)
This one reminded my of the book Papillon. Barbed wire on the top of the gangways with matresses and shit strewn on top. Bit spooky taking this one.
A tiled cell

The little road is just before the main Police station or Viet consulate if you were heading from downtown to Victory Hill (Ekareach st). There's a Mosque down the lane and so on the entrance of the lane there's the big mosque name across the road on poles.content wrote:It is at the end of street 121.
Maybe all that prayer keeps the ghosts away from the prison?
On the same lane there looks what must be one of SHV's biggest excavation yet going on. The building that is going on here is mind blowing.
Also a massive luxury villa/apartment block that almost looks like it could have been picked up from Switzerland and dumped in SHV.

Great pictures.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
This was the town prison up until just a few months ago .
Someone built a new prison out of town , in exchange for the land this one is siuated on .
Up until it's closure it was home to about 350 inmates .
Originally built to house about 120 .

I reckon those chimneys in the building in the background might be the same?
