Gee, thanks. You fucking Euros have gotten a lot less colonizing and genocidal over the last few centuries, so perhaps there's hope for you lot as well.Miguelito wrote:That's actually kind of a good comparison. A culturally insulated country, without much history with international travel, gets cashed up and starts to explore abroad. They want their own food, think that because they're spending money it doesn't matter what they do, and yell very loudly in public to one another.Nasty Canasta wrote:So you are saying that they are just the same as Americans. Americans have gotten better over the last few decades, perhaps there's hope for Chinese travelers.

I don't think assholes are exclusive to any particular nation. It is all about exposure to other cultures that Chinese are just starting to get, and the sheer volume of them makes it hard to miss them
Yanks have always been generally better behaved than Poms, and way better than bogans, but that's just my opinion.
French/Belgians/Dutch don't count.
No, I don't like their foreign policy, but most of them individually are OK/good people.

Just sat adjacent to a table of four Chinese.
They were drinking jugs of beer, and milkshakes (together), smoking and spitting on the floor.
Cambodia is in good hands.

Indeed, with the places I go to, you never know who you'll be sitting next to, a secretary of state one day and somewhat unsophisticated Chinese rable the next.HsRob wrote:You keep a good company [emoji6]Nasty Canasta wrote:Just sat adjacent to a table of four Chinese.

They should convert the Intercon back to what it originally was - Martini's. Would certainly up the number of Westerners using the place.

I was talking to someone who lived there when it opened. Back then he said the location was fine, as there was no traffic; now, on the other hands, it's of course a shit location. Apparently at the time they considered opening it next to the Cambodiana, where he owned land, but instead chose this location. What a lack of foresight
Back then there was still the possibility that the authorities would do the obvious and create the CBD in the west of the city, somewhere around Olympic or a bit further towards the airport, conserving the historic part of the city, as has been done in many cities around the world - Bangkok, for example. Needless to say it didn't happen.Miguelito wrote:I was talking to someone who lived there when it opened.
