I don’t know much about SR hotel trade, but wouldn’t be surprised if there are more tourists spending time in PP & SHV than there previously was & therefore stealing some tourists from SR.
But surely it’s just the Khmer way - they see an opportunity to make money and everyone jumps on and tries to ride the gravy train. Then only the strongest/smartest/deepest pockets survive.
Cashews/rubber/mango/hotels/condos at one stage each were seen the path to quick riches. Until everyone tried to get in on it and oversupplied.
But perhaps now we are starting to see more attractive places in Cambodia for tourists outside SR.
So maybe all tourists coming Cambodia are not necessarily going to SR.
