Not at all.
Card counting works in Blackjack if you have a good memory and know when to bet. I can do it & have done it successfully at home casino nights with mates.
It isn’t illegal but casinos will bar you if they suspect you are doing it. Which strikes me as extremely unfair. You need to be good to hide the fact that you are doing it.
The Chicken's trolling aside, I've always wondered on what basis casinos can justify kicking people out for card counting. You don't get kicked out if you can predict probabilities in poker, so it seems unfair to the player that they can't use their skills to count cards.
I'm sure GM has some stories of card counters getting kicked out of casinos. All I know is what I've seen on TV. Got anything good to share?
I’ve never been in a casino, except to use the lav in Pailin & Bokor.
I watched a movie about it and got intrigued as I am a bit rainman-ish. So a read a couple of books about it and learned how to do it. This was when I was a student.
We had a few home casino nights where I made decent money (for a student) on blackjack and then lost it all on poker.
It all went south for me when my mates decided to remove blackjack from the event as they got fed up with me consistently winning. Every week the idiots were convinced I had rigged the deck - it drove them nuts. It was quite funny seeing the lengths they went to to ‘protect the integrity of the deck’.
But yeah, I also don’t get when casinos kick people out for counting. Surely it’s just another skill.
