Traffic cops
I was on my back from work earlier rode past the police check point seeing a bunch of cops surrounded this white dude, I was going to mind my own business but seeing this fat boss cop sitting on the plastic chair and a portable steel table collecting money from the local they usually do this every week at random locations pulling in no less than 100 bucks an hour I decided to stop and see what is up. Turns out the dude did not wear a helmet and one of the subordinate cops took the bike key away from the ignition. I learned the cops wanted 15 bucks for no helmet and the newbie white dude had less than 2 bucks on him except for ATM cards the cop said he can go to the ATM and withdraw but his bike has to stay here. Anyway I spoke in Khmer politely that according to the law its 15,000 riel for no helmet, his bike has mirrors and licence plate....the fat cop gave me a very ugly look then his subordinate screamed at me and said are you going to pay for him? I politely smile and said yes. On another table they also had helmet for sale and they wanted him to buy the helmet for $7, it is not a bad deal. I translated to the white dude he suddenly loses it and said I aint buying these fucking cheap quality helmet! I almost burst out laughing but the cops werent amused. I politely told the cop that I have a spare one at home he can have mine. I paid for the fine but I know that I now hated by the traffic cops community; he got his bike back . He insisted that I follow him to an ATM so he can pay me back, I just said its all good as I got work later in the day.
The fat boss cop and I go back a long way and we both knew its rental bike and it is illegal to rent. But he didnt want to make anymore scene because he knew his subordinate tried to scam a foreigner.

Not related to his story much at all, but I drove past a random police check this morning.
I was driving down the road, and a moto about 15 meters in front of me was driving straight, saw the upcoming check point, and pulled a quick U-Turn. Problem was, of course, he didn't look. He drove straight into another moto, knocking the guy over. The moto kind of bounced off, and he just drove away going the wrong way up the street.
This isn't surprising, but it's always a little shocking to see that level of stupidity on display.

Who owns a BMW I8 in PP?
He was trying to muscle his way in to get behind an ambulance going across Choy Chavgnar Bridge.
Of course I blocked him.
He started manically gesturing after he pulled in behind but stopped when he realised it was a barang when he come up alongside, or more likely he saw my mrs scowling!
He then went the wrong way nearly colliding with a minivan to catch up with the ambo. No doubt he’s a squllionaire but he looked about two foot tall!
I’ve dashcam footage of it if anyone is interested.

I saw something similar on Sihanouk in front of Lucky one time, but the U-turn wasn't successful because they smacked straight into the barrier and fell off.Miguelito wrote:Not related to his story much at all, but I drove past a random police check this morning.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Was speed a factor?Lucky Lucan wrote:I saw something similar on Sihanouk in front of Lucky one time, but the U-turn wasn't successful because they smacked straight into the barrier and fell off.Miguelito wrote:Not related to his story much at all, but I drove past a random police check this morning.

Imagine one of your family members being transported in an ambulance and you can't follow it as some idiot on the next car blocks your passage, just because he can.YaTingPom wrote:Who owns a BMW I8 in PP?

None but ourselves can free our mind.
Bingo. What if his wife was post-birth hemorrhaging?
Yeah, you got one over one him.
Good man.

High comeuppance factor is always good to see.
Upload, please.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
I very much doubt his wife was in a 20 year old Nissan ambulance.

I’ll get it sorted when I return to Westport.vladimir wrote:Definitely interested.YaTingPom wrote:I’ve dashcam footage of it if anyone is interested.

I can't be sure (as i was only going on gestures and body language), but i'm fairly certain i watched this play out the other day as i walked by.
One extremely well fed looking traffic cop standing with his colleague next to a moto driver sat on his moto wearing a baseball cap/no helmet. The what looks like newly arrived barang lady with a large backpack looks to be politely arguing with the moto driver about something and i see the moto driver wearing a slight grin whilst sticking up 5 fingers - which i think meant he wanted the lady to pay the fine for no helmet, whilst the cops looking like they wanted the same thing.

I did that shit a few years ago when I saw the scout cop, pulled a quick sharp U turn almost got t-bone from a motorbike behind me. Never again. And it was only 3000 riel for no helmet back then.Miguelito wrote:Not related to his story much at all, but I drove past a random police check this morning.

A few years ago I was stopped by a couple of traffic cops for riding my moto the wrong way up a one way street. After some negotiation I handed over $2 and turned my moto around to ride back the correct way down the street. One of the police said “no, no, you pay fine already you can keep going the wrong way now”... [emoji1][emoji1]
