Considering this guy is going to be in prison for the rest of his life I doubt the CC company is going to get paid back from him. Which means that the rest of us who have a CC will be paying for any unpaid debt through higher fees and interest rates.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:I’m perverse for not having any sympathy if a rapist and murderer was the victim of financial crime as well as a lengthy prison sentence?antiparasite wrote:What a strange and perverse train of thoughts to have, the greater weight of this crime considered. Do the peelers always turn credit cards over so you can’t see the number or was it accidentally placed that way?
CVV code is 642 - I wouldn’t be surprised if there are photos floating around of the other side.
Would be terrible if the scumbag got a big debt ran up on his credit card...
Glad the Royal Government is making visas infinitely much more difficult to obtain and extend!
If so, then I’ll just have to deal with that.

Nah, that’s not really true. Prisoners debt isn’t just written off. Most credit cards have a direct debit set up to make regular payments from a nominated bank account.Khmer_Risotto wrote:Considering this guy is going to be in prison for the rest of his life I doubt the CC company is going to get paid back from him. Also, he won’t be in prison for the rest of his life, unless he ends it early. If there is unpaid debt then that will stay with him on his release.
alternatively, they could obtain an order to impose salary deductions on whatever paid employment he may take on within prison, under the prison labour prakas. Not sure if sack making is commonplace, but imagine durian picking or prahok production are available options in Kampot prison .ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: Also, he won’t be in prison for the rest of his life, unless he ends it early. Is there a process whereby prisoners having served a certain amount of years can apply to serve the rest of their sentence in their home country?
I’ve heard of this before but I don’t know if it applies in Cambodia. I suspect not.

There is no process by which he can serve out any part of his sentence (if found guilty) back home in a cushy western prison.Fred Edwards wrote:Why do some people go on like they know shit. Obviously not talking about you number one.

Try about 11-12 years ago.
I knew him. Born in Korea and adopted by an American family. He played poker at the Fox back then. I pointed out to the others that he was on speed. No one believed me. I asked him in front of the others if he was an Yamma and he said yes.
The murder followed not long after. He is one of the 90+ that I have known from Cambodia that is now dead.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
I'm really glad I don't know you.LaudJohn wrote: He is one of the 90+ that I have known from Cambodia that is now dead.

Grant Helling was his name. The murder occurred in February 2008. The suicide in September of the same year.LaudJohn wrote:Lucky Lucan wrote:There was also that meth-addled American who killed his girlfriend and hid her body under the bed, then tried to set her on fire when the smell got too much. We can meet.
I really need to replace the people I know in or from Cambodia at a reasonable rate. Lost 12 or 14 in a 12 month period in 2014-15 alone (hard to keep count). In one month I went to 2 funerals and a wedding, just like the movie.

I really wonder how people like you are able to even put your pants on the morning let alone post on a forum. Anyway, thanks for reminding me why I don't hardly bother posting here anymore.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:Nah, that’s not really true. Prisoners debt isn’t just written off.
