South African marrying a Cambodian
Miguelito,
I don't know where you are from, but in the U.S. we only have one piece of paper that documents that you are legally married and that is a marriage license. I am not sure if the documentation that PSD Kiwi is referring to is for people who have married outside the Kingdom, or those seeking to get married. We did not have to post anything for 14 days. I recall that after getting the docs translated...it was fairly simple.

Yea, its just a formality for anyone getting married in Cambodia.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
@PSD_Kiwi. I see. It was on an American embassy site where they said American men cannot marry over 50, clearly they were only focusing on American men but it applies to all.PSD_Kiwi wrote:@Eastboy... No, it applies to all foreign males applying to marry a Cambodian female in Cambodia. Which bar did you hear that bullshit about being an American rule which only applies to American men?
Lone star and others managed to successfully obtain a Cambodian marriage certificate based on their marriage abroad by seeking authorisation from the MoFAIC. However very recent reports are that this is no longer possible unless the Cambodian Embassy in the country where the marriage takes place have been informed and a witness from the Embassy attends the wedding.
There is another rule about having to earn over $2500 a month to get married, but I have seen post saying this is only if you are over 50.
This is purely out of interest I'm 42 so no issue for me. My bar fly days are long over.
ALL Foreign males applying to marry a Cambodian female in Cambodia must be under 50 yrs old and have a minimum monthly income of USD$2500.
Is that clear enough for you now?

Dear PSD Kiwi.
I have the forms but am struggling to fill them in. Please could you do this for me.
Also, could you be present on the wedding night in case I am not able to perform my marital duties adequately?

When did you hear about this embassy witness thing and in what country was it?
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Very recently, from people who tried to get their overseas marriage recognised at the MoFAIC (like Lonestar did). This has come from Ung Vantha, the head of the Legal & Consular office at the MoFAIC.YaTingPom wrote:When did you hear about this embassy witness thing and in what country was it?
Still worth trying though, no harm.
Edit: it's actually written in the Prakas that marriages overseas will be recognised in Cambodia if the nearest Cambodian Embassy is informed, I'll copy and paste the relevant section later.

Please do post the relevant section.
I'm sure many posters will be interested.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

If an embassy signed and stamped a translated copy of a celibacy form they know what it’s for so one assume they are now “informed”?PSD_Kiwi wrote:Very recently, from people who tried to get their overseas marriage recognised at the MoFAIC (like Lonestar did). Or would they need to be at the wedding to actually recognise it? I’m sure they would say yes because it would earn some beer money.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Ok, here is the actual wording from the Prakas on Marriage and Family...

Do any embassies have registrars and registration books?

so in australia where there are no consulates other than the embassy in canberra that would mean a journey up to canberra with a celebrant in tow or an invited official to your ceremony somewhere in wonthaggi...
