I know a guy who shot a duck with an AK years ago. The duck was hopping around as the rounds flew past it. It was too expensive to shoot a bigger animal.

Cows sell for $500 plus so to blow one up for $50 is bargain of the century.
I’d pay to blow one up, miss then take it home with me and sell it on a few days later.

Fart breath well done I've taken a screenshot of your post as at last you have said something which is true and I agree with. A part of course about taking the cow home and selling it
we all know you would dress it up and marry it.
Apart from that little discrepancy a good post.

In term of the cow thing, that was back in 2007, We were living near Kangnam, in Bundang area pulled in pretty dough from teaching and Samsung corp related gigs. We all thought Ryan's and his gang planned vacation was exotic, cool and fun; all of us bought it as none had been to Cambodia before. FB was not a thing then in that community.

[quote="pedros"]The aussie pulled the pin and refused to let go. The khmer guy tried to wrestle it off him couldn't in time and was killed by a shrapnel wound to the neck. There was panic, as this is not strictly permitted, with the tour guide getting in his car and getting as far away as possible, as fast as possible. Shit, wtf can we say?*
quote]
not sure what type of granade that was but the ones i have used, pulling the pin does not explore the granade, only letting go of the lever will set the timer in motion,we where trained to take out the pin and hold the granade for a minute, and put the pin back in,what concerns me is the lack of training these tourist are getting before firing these types of weapons and also the age of some of the weapons.army bases are not tourist friendly, accidents can happen even in the best run places under tight controls,i was shot once at am army base in australia(complete accident)so its not a place for untrained people.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Edit: confirmed it was a US M67 grenade.
I just asked the brother just now. His exact words were.
'my friend die. Australie hold, no throw, hold. Friend go take, ausralie no give, boom. Die'
make of that what you what you will, could the wrestling match to try to take it have triggered the detonation?
Normally you pull the pin and throw the bomb into a pond, why this guy didn't or didn't want to is another question.
A needless waste of life, no more earners for the boys (for a while), who might start stealing weapons and ammo to make ends meet, and another thing which made cambodia interesting (whether you like it or not) gone. Although it may well be business as usual in.a week or 2 if the fallout doesn't materialise.
Edit: just seen pictures and a video. The Aussie is missing most of his hand, has big holes in arms and not much of a face, still just about alive as they move him off on a pick up. The khmer seems dead already, wounds to skull and neck. I wouldn't post them, even if i could 'no, no, no facebook'

May the dedicated Khmer RIP, he was apparently quite a hero for trying to save the day as he did alas it rarely plays like in Hollywood movies.
Anyway the news made CNN or alike today. They even aired some videos of excited Rambo dressed backpackers firing anything down to rocket launchers and heavy machine guns, most in some sort of open no man’s land with seemingly very little regards for safety standards. Naturally these vids could have been shot elsewhere in KH.
Now I probably shouldn’t be so judgmental about trigger happy backpackers since back in the old days when we went shooting at Kambol with D and a few others, we also drank beers, often used personal guns but at least we all had some shirts on and mostly managed not to behave like total fools at least until reaching the Ginger Monkey
That is a bit surprising since it is clearly not a dairy store operation. I can’t see the big brass involved, readily change partner for some schmuck they don’t know and trust. So I asked some Navy contacts and was told that he now spends more time away from Ream to develop new/other business ventures but still retain his close by hospitality and shooting range businesses.YaTingPom wrote: I heard the guy who set up the firing range in Ream has sold it. Partly because it’s hard to control shit loads of excitable tourists especially when they’ve had a few!

tombraider wrote:interesting point LL the place of the incident is "approximately 1/2 way between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville" which coincidentally is Pedros' brother in laws "place to shoot and blow stuff up, all under the expert instruction of RCAF officers" funnily enough that part of the post doesn't exist so it looks like chicken started the thread. luckily google still has the main text. Now I have no axe to grind with Pedros and it's probably a smart move to wax something you were promoting that ended up with the death of two people and multiple injured.Lucky Lucan wrote:My first thoughts on reading this and the location was the newly advertised "shooting range" in Kampong Speu. I'm guessing that nobody picked up a "UXO", it's more likely some ancient grenade/ RPG that malfunctioned and exploded and they are trying to cover it up. I'm also guessing that "shooting ranges" for tourists in Cambodia will soon be a thing of the past.PSD_Kiwi wrote:The "pay-to-play" shooting range was on armed forces land, as most of them are. The 2 Australians were paying customers. I thought we had already established this.
The PPP jumped the gun by calling the 2 Aussies "Australian Army technical de-mining experts", but have now edited their article.

But i'm interested Migs how can others get such privileges? to delete their posts,as Pedros is a contributor not a mod he surely couldn't do it himself? is it through simple requests? backhanders?
Mateship, Tomby. You know how it works.
Wonder if the guy was suicidal or stupid.
