CCTV in bars
As far as the system of chits for each drink order goes the cheating by the customer throwing away or eating or otherwise disposing of chits is easily caught as the cashier has a copy and can and should check the total that the customer/waitress comes up with against the cashier copy total. That should also catch the "putting a chit in another customers"chit pot.

In practice it doesn’t work like that.jimpson wrote:As far as the system of chits for each drink order goes the cheating by the customer throwing away or eating or otherwise disposing of chits is easily caught as the cashier has a copy and can and should check the total that the customer/waitress comes up with against the cashier copy total. As each different customer places a drinks order, a bill is written out from the bill book and the pink cashier’s copy remains in this bill book. So to check a customer’s total using the cashier’s copies would mean hunting through the bill book to find the corresponding pink bills - they won’t all be together in the book. This could take a long time. And if a customer had removed one of his bills, you wouldn’t be looking for a copy in the cashiers bill book.
When a customer wants to pay his total bill, the cashier totals up the amount from the customer copies. Hence the scope for cheating by the customer. Usually the staff are fairly good at spotting any customer’s attempts at removing bills but the odd one does slip through.

That's the signature of a girlie bar. If they're using any other system then wrong place, Sir !vladimir wrote:The system has been tried and tested by (tens of?) thousands of bars all over SE Asia.
It works.

New flaw to the chit system discovered. When you’re a couple guys and buy a few beers, and buy a few lady drinks, that’s a lot of chits that add up. You can’t then keep them all, as they need to bring them to the register. But what is needed is a single receipt that you can keep to expense at the office the next morning.

The trick is to ask them when you pay for a handwritten receipt that says, 'Dinner and drinks'Miguelito wrote:New flaw to the chit system discovered. If you need a receipt for reimbursement or tax purposes, just pay by credit card. I believe Young Will’s bars now accept MasterCard and Visa. I’m assuming the business name printed on the CC receipt is discrete.Miguelito wrote:New flaw to the chit system discovered. Yes we get quite a few customers asking for this. We have a receipt book that we use for customers who need a copy for expenses. We put the total cost on it and whatever description the customer wants.Playboy wrote:The trick is to ask them when you pay for a handwritten receipt that says, 'Dinner and drinks'Miguelito wrote:New flaw to the chit system discovered. I particularly liked the customer who barfined three girls one night and asked us for a receipt that said fifteen coca colas! [emoji4]

I laughed one time when one of my staff gave me a receipt from a KTV on it with 150 Ganzbergs and a "plate of fruit" that cost $35.youngwill100 wrote:Yes we get quite a few customers asking for this. There are some rank amateurs here on the expense front.

Everytime me or my family have been victims of crime - the CCTV wasnt clear/ blurry/ pointed in wrong direction
But actually my friends hostel has some fairly cheap wide-angle, hi res cameras. less than 40$. great sound too. all linked to our mobile phones at anytime.
Funny footage last week of some a-hole flicking his fag-butt into the thatch roof on a 35 degree, bone dry day. whole roof went up in flames in seconds.
