32 US embassy staff fired for underage porn
I was drinking with some very senior long term US diplomats from the Hanoi Embassy last week and this story came up. They started reeling off some absolute doozies about US staff gone wild at outposts in Africa and Central and South America etc. Kind of made this one look lame

I forgot about him. Seems he was quietly released in January this year.
2.5 years for $3,000,000+, not a bad deal.
In August 2015, former U.S. Foreign Service Officer, Michael T. Sestak, 44, was sentenced to 64 months in prison on federal charges in a scheme where he accepted more than $3 million in bribes to process visas for non-immigrants seeking entry to the United States. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator indicates that he was scheduled to be released from prison on January 4, 2018. The 2015 USDOJ announcement notes that following his prison term, Sestak will be placed on three years of supervised release.
Massive stalker
US Govt couldn't get the money back ? or part thereof ?
Wow...that isn't bad. 2.5 yrs in a cushy lo level white collar facility and then back to SEA to live off the 9 rental property incomes.

Sacked US Embassy Workers Protest
Phnom Penh): On June 19, 2018, about 20 former US Embassy personnel in Cambodia protested in front their former workplace in Phnom Penh after they being sacked by the embassy last April. A total of 32 former employees were accused of sharing inappropriate pornography, in their separate group, using Facebook Messenger.
The Phnom Penh Capital Hall also allowed the former US Embassy staff to protest in a non-violent manner and hold a press conference today from 8am to 12pm, with about 20 participants in front of the Embassy. They are not allowed to march from one place to the next.
According to a letter of protest from 32 staff to the governor of Phnom Penh, they confirmed that "The US Embassy's Office has stopped us from work. I was unfairly dismissed because of the Facebook messenger group for no apparent reason . "
Complaints aired were:
US Embassy must justify why they were fired without any proof.
The embassy violated their rights to privacy by confiscating their phones and looking at their pictures and other things on their phone.

Well, at least we now know what they're accused of sharing:
From the Post: Guards protest dismissals, reject claims of sharing naked photos of childNhum Sophorn, 45, claimed he had worked at the embassy for more than 18 years. He told The Post that the protesters would not accept the decision to dismiss them.
“The embassy took our personal phones for inspection and checked our personal Facebook Messenger group. Then it decided to fire us after we were accused of viewing and sharing naked images of a girl under the age of 10,” Sophorn said.

I have one question now. Especially for Violet. Is that pedophilia? Careful how you answer that!

The Oxford definition is "sexual feelings directed towards children", so by that definition if they were sharing the images of naked 10 year olds for their shared sexual gratification, yes.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:I have one question now. What's the gist of this protest? Are they saying "We weren't sharing kiddie porn" or "Sharing kiddie porn shouldn't be a fireable offense"?
