I'm happy with the definitions available on the internet. Is your question to me due to my requesting you stop calling dudes in position paedoohiles in Jep's thread? As far as I know, none of those people you named were involved in this activity, therefore my position is it is out of order to be associating them in writing on the internet with this activity. Name away if it is to do with how they handled the situation after finding out about it, if it is, in fact, the responsibility of any of them to deal with it, beyond ensuring the correct people are alerted.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:I have one question now. You can't accuse me of something if you learned of it by looking at my phone without my permission or warrant

Were the phones provided by the embassy?

Good question. An associated question is, were they used for work purposes at all....in which case, their contracts likely say they can, and will, be subject to checks for inappropriate use as outlined in their terms of employmentgavinmac wrote:violet wrote:I believe the gist of it isgavinmac wrote:What's the gist of this protest? I don't think it's general practice for companies here to provide phones, but many companies provide SIM cards, or provide an allowance for SIMs. I am not sure what the U.S. Embassy provides to their security guards.Legal expert Sok Sam Oeun said that generally, any institution that wanted to inspect the personal phones or Facebook accounts of employees must obtain a court order to do so.
“Employees can refuse to comply with such requests if they are not served with a court order. If the mobile phones were taken from the employees, then their employer has violated their personal rights. This is illegal and the employees can file a lawsuit against the embassy,” he said.

Sounds like the Embassy had every right to do what they did. Instant dismissal for that type of thing is not unheard of either.cyclingqueen wrote:the phones were not owned by the employees

I would be interested to know if it was one instance, with potentially passive recipients getting caught up in it, or if it was repeated behaviour

I don't understand why this is surprising to anyone. It's incredibly difficult to side with somebody that's been fired for using embassy equipment to stare at nude kids for shits and giggles, or worse, pleasure.violet wrote:Sounds like the Embassy had every right to do what they did.
Fuck those people, fuck their demonstration and fucking good luck suing the Embassy of Suing.

Agreed and apologies if it seemed like I needed to know if the Embassy had the right.Alexandra wrote:I don't understand why this is surprising to anyone.
