buying cambodian nationality with name change
buying cambodian nationality with name change
Hello everyone,
Quick question: as far as you know is it possible for someone buying Cambodian nationality/citizenship to change their name in the new ID/passport documents?
As far as i remember that was an option before but i don't know if that changed as my contacts seem unsure now.
Also if you or some of your friends can reliably provide this service please drop me a PM and i will compare the pricing with my other contacts, the client holds an EU passport but i can provide more details by PM.
Thanks.

If they are buying citizenship how much are they paying and to who ?

i generally go directly to the ministry across the airport for this service as i have contacts there since it is not concomitant with a land purchase, now they have not paid yet as they asked about changing the name and my contacts isn't sure about it.ricecakes wrote:If they are buying citizenship how much are they paying and to who ?

I wouldn’t know if it is still possible but it was certainly the case when I became a citizen and I dearly regret taking that option same as all the people I know of who did the same.
Maybe worth considering if you are on a fbi list I guess but otherwise a guaranteed PITA.

Before any option is taken, I would take into consideration that the Law on Nationality will be amended soon. Unless you’ll get the official proclamation from the King, I would advise against “buying” citizenship.

On the contrary it might be time to hurry up if still possible under current conditions which I doubt considering HCIC’s links.
Anyway whether it was bought or not, acquired citizenship isn’t valid unless a Praka was issued and published in the officiel bulletin/gazette.
Since said Praka is systematically requested when dealing with civil registry officials as well as in many other departments whether or not a valid ID is produced, I guess one is quickly made aware if one was scammed only to realize one is ripe to be conned again for using a forged ID.
I'm calling bullshit.
Not possible anymore.

it's not possible to change the name. Stop trying to hide your criminal past in your western world and come here to misuse a new Asian identity to travel freely into countries which might have blacklisted you. Thailand, for example.
Cambodia should make it much more difficult for foreigners of non-Asian origin to become Cambodians. It's simply neither right nor appropriate.
ICAO requires name changes be recorded into the chip so forget about hiding whatever you want to hide. Any new visible nominal data on the MRZ field of the passport will not affect your original identity. The original name is always recorded on the chip.

I don’t really get any legit reasons why someone would want to change their name. But surely it wouldn’t be too hard, especially in countries which use a different script, I imagine that you could subtlety change your name quite easily. But if what you say is right, electronically your original name would still be readable.ronniedog wrote:jackrossi wrote:So according to your info it's not possible to change name as Barang doa slae did anymore?ricecakes wrote:I'm calling bullshit.

I don’t agree with your assertion that different rules should apply for Asian/Non-Asian.
How would you differentiate eligibility? Nationality? Ethnicity? Skin colour? Seems dodgy ground.
I don’t think adopting a new nationality or either right or wrong... be they from a neighbouring country or from across the world. If a Singaporean/Filipino can do it, why not a Brit or a Spaniard?
If Cambodians (or Filipinos/Ghanaian/Brazilians etc etc) can become US (or French/Australian/canadian etc etc) citizens, why can westerners not take legal citizenship in Asian (or African/South American etyc etc) countries?
Not something that's top of my priority list, but why should the same rules not apply to these countries, when people here would chew off their own arm for a US passport?
