Why are they still in KoW?
Living of bor bor and 2000 riel beer in unbearable heat hardly seems fun

Why are you still in Cambodia?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Haha there have been times where I've definitely felt kidnapped to be held for ransom here. Luckily, I'm the type of person who never loves anything much, so the kingdom of plunder doesn't even reach .5.pedros wrote:Stockholm syndrome.Cambodiavsthailand wrote:OP has a good point.

My morning bor bor costs about $4 at Malis, but it comes with free iced tea and a smile.Alexandra wrote:WTF? Only the teacher crowd like the OP and probably yourself do that. Malis breakfast is for mini ballers.
Haha, but seriously, it's a great deal, as most breakfast items are around the $4 mark, and you get a great atmosphere (I like to be outside by the water, but there's AC inside as well), free tea, newspapers (although those aren't as valuable anymore), and a small dessert. They used to give you a pastry from Khema as well, but they stopped that.

I can't believe you talk about great breakfast deals and even mention Khema without mentioning their free flow which is literally the best in the whole area! I claim full credit over them ending their lunch equivalent.

Haha, yes, Khema's is obviously the gold standard - I think we've covered that pretty well on here before. I prefer Khema La Poste over the original though, as I seem to run into less businessmen I know having breakfast there. The bonus is on the weekend when it lasts until 3 PM.Alexandra wrote:I can't believe you talk about great breakfast deals and even mention Khema without mentioning their free flow which is literally the best in the whole area! I never made it to their lunch, that's done already??
And you can enter the owner of that other place while you're there!Miguelito wrote:I prefer Khema La Poste over the original though, as I seem to run into less businessmen I know having breakfast there.
No have. Wine and cheese dinners are still once a week and every time I've successfully puppy eyed myself into a free flow of beer instead. (Not sure why they always throw a fit about that last part. I'm being easier on their finances ffs!)Miguelito wrote:I never made it to their lunch, that's done already??
1/ Altruistic reason: I feel my residence in this country brings the average IQ upfantasticplanet wrote:Why are you still in Cambodia?
2/ Fear to leave: Khema wine and cheese is the second best thing after their brunch/breakfast - I am afraid if I leave I won't find that again
3/ Sanity: we now have passapp - tuktuk drivers used to be the bane of my existence
4/ It is good for my personal growth: floating in sewage floods rats, cockroaches, and dead backpackers don't scare me anymore
5/ Social life: TEFLERs, deadbeats, lawyers/accountants(aka deadbeats), CEOs, and dogooders get smashed and high in the same joints

I don't think Chris ( fantasticplanet) realizes how much PP, SR and KK have changed. This change is why I have left , I can't afford to be there anymore unless I work and getting work that doesn't grind you down is harder ( speaking only as a TEFLer) .
However, I think the real is question is Why has the OP decided to re-engage on a forum a country he left a long time ago?
You ain't coming across as a happy person mate.
