Hi all,
I hope all's well!
I'm moving to Phnom Penh in March, and wondered what the job market was for English speaking expats (I don't speak any other languages, apart from basic French).
I have a lot of experience, in particular managerial, but no degree.
So I was just wondering what the market was like, and whether office jobs for English speaking expats are fairly abundant, or at least fairly attainable in time? Where would people recommend looking?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I can't wait to come over!
Many thanks,
Tony

As that joker Gavin Mac would say, you'll get a TEFL and teach English at BELTEI and like it.
but jeez kid, the market is tough for someone with no specific skills or education jobs are not abundant for foreigners especially general office jobs (when a Khmer will do it for $300 who speaks English and Khmer why would they need a foreigner?). that Look at these job sites and Facebook groups and if you dont see anything that fits your skill set then you will have your answer, get learning Chinese. And to pre-empt your next question you gotta be earning over $1200 a month to have any sort of living

Hi mate,
Thank you for getting back to me.
As far as you're aware in regards to teaching, is it fairly easy to get a job teaching with just a TEFL, and not a degree or a great deal of experience? Obviously I'd approach this taking it seriously, and not just as a means to make money not caring about the job!
Thanks again!

I find that the market is OK with interesting opportunities for those with a specialization. If you're an accountant, video producer, F&B expert, etc, you will easily be able to find work. But just being a bit of a generalist, then you'll have a tough time.Tony1234 wrote:Hi all,

But I see that after one day you've already resigned yourself to teaching English, so you'll do that and like it.
