Drunk driving penalties
Drunk driving penalties
Let’s say you got in an accident and were drunk. Is there actually any threat of jail, or as long as you can pay a little more you’re all set?
How about...just don't fucking drink and drive!
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Cambodia still has the death penalty for convicted drink drivers, hope that answers your question - best not drink & drive.
Meum est propositum in taberna mori,
ut sint Guinness proxima morientis ori.
tunc cantabunt letius angelorum chori:
"Sit Deus propitius huic potatori."

Didn’t know I’d encounter the moral police here.
Let’s step back from your high horses for a moment. Yea yea drunk driving is bad, but it can happen at some point so let’s just move past that issue.
I just see a lot of articles where people get in an accident and it doesn’t seem that they even get arrested, or that they run and deal with it later (when they sober up?). So, do people actually get arrested for drunk driving? (Not counting the Chinese in Xianhok.)

If you can negotiate a fine there and then you’ll be on your way. $200 seems fair.
If you’re a dick (or paralytic) you’ll be arrested and raped in the cells by bubba. Then you’ll be fined and you might get your car back, if you have the ID card.
I was told by an old time expat that he just refused to give a breath test and they let him go. It might have helped that he’s a well know businessman.
I once saw a very connected (read rich) Russian leave a bar, obviously worse for wear, and stagger to his car ($$$$$$$$) if full view of the cops. They stopped the traffic and saluted him. If you’re a long termer you’ll know who it was.
If you drink and drive you’re a bloody idiot.

It you drink and drive a Tundra or F-150 at high speeds down narrow streets, you're probably suffering heavily from the small dick syndrome.
As for slipping home on your moto, once a few weeks, after a wet night out, taking it real easy. You're among many a friend of mine, who've survived decades of personal freedom, without an accident, incl. myself.

- Hey Mr No-morals Policeman. My best mate was killed by a "Yea yea it can happen at some point" drunken driver. So he, at age 17, never had a chance to "just move past that issue"
Sorry for having, and practicing, at least some basic morality in this country - I know just how offensive that is in some circles.

...then he smiled again, and slipped away, further on up the stream
If I have a couple beers at the pub and drive home, I’m safer than anyone one of these sober pricks driving and using their cell phones, or anyone just speeding.Hairy-nosed Otter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 8:48 amLet’s step back from your high horses for a moment. I used to drink drive a lot, but had to stop as it’s just not worth it. Actually my wife left me because of my drink driving.
Good funeral mind.

Your wife left you probably because you’re an asshole drunk. The driving was just a by product.
It’s like saying “My wife left me because I kept pissing in the kids wardrobe”.
I’m safer in my car driving at 20kph then in a TukTuk (who’s also drunk).
Most accidents happen through errors of judgement not impairment.
