Dunno about the expats, but you're full of shit.Tuktukpizza wrote:How do you judge the next dude in a bar?
Is it because he drinks anchor?
Because you have never seen him before?
Because hes a loudmouth?
Or because he listens to that god awful rap music?
Some even judge the next expat because he hasnt lived in Cambodia since dinosaurs were alive.
Expats and are somewhat unaware of how there own shit actually stinks too......

I do pretty well except for the guy who is three sheets to the wind and says Can I talk to you? and then gets upset if you say you'd rather he didn't.
Re: Expats are anally retentive
I seldom go to bars but I go to drink, not talk

So what if one person has been here longer than the next, That doesnt make him smarter, Better travelled or a more interesting person than the next.

Re: Expats are anally retentive
I think normally people aren't out looking to judge anyone. They wake up hopeful this day is gonna be awesome in some way. Occasionally, that gets interrupted by some individual or individuals that make it impossible not to judge them. It happens and it's part of life. And, there are a few judgemental expats in Cambodia, I might have been one on a few occasions, but for the most part, they are a pretty nice group of people.

My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

When we were back at Xmas we stayed at a very popular GH that is frequented by a variety of local expats who go there to drink and swim etc. Id get into conversations with some of the ones i did not know personally and they'd ask where I live and I'd say Hanoi and stay schtum to start with . We'd get into a talk about Phnom Penh and I'd then have to listen to their encyclopedic advice on how to survive in PP and general knowledge on all things Cambodia all gleaned in their last few years of living here. To shut them the fuck up id eventually have to drop in that id just lived in PP for 10 years, married locally, still come back for work several times a year or to tend our properties etc. For added effect i'd then have a chat to the lasses working there in Khmer.
I preferred drinking with the likes of LPB and RobW where we do not have to talk much if at all . Although RobW and I did smash a bottle of whiskey together at a wedding a few weeks back which was nice and we conversed at length... " ice old chap ?" "no thanks" "another old chap" "yes please" etc etc
