https://www.dailyindependent.com/news/l ... 873c6.htmlA federal judge has sentenced a former Magoffin County deputy judge-executive to 20 years in prison for soliciting sex from a minor and possessing more than 600 child pornography images on a computer at the Magoffin County Courthouse.
Walter E. Hardin, 29, son of Magoffin County Judge-Executive Charles Hardin, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Lexington.

Speaking of child porn, I wonder why the customs and border protection officers didn’t seize Rife’s electronic devices and perform a forensic search of them for child porn. I would say they had “reasonable suspicion” to do so, knowing he was returning from Cambodia and had been fired from a job there for molesting children and was now lying about it. I assume they at least seized them when they arrested him. Of course, he could have deleted everything by then if he realized from his secondary inspection at the airport that the feds were on to him.

He is from Kentucky, I wouldn’t give him too much credit for doing anything wisely...gavinmac wrote:Speaking of child porn, I wonder why the customs and border protection officers didn’t seize Rife’s electronic devices and perform a forensic search of them for child porn. It's interesting and not at all surprising to me to see that Wally, the son of the county judge executive, was the "deputy" judge while still in his 20s.
Kentucky is not a very large state but it has 120 or so counties. Each county is the fiefdom of whoever wins the election to be the head of the county, called the "judge executive" (this is an administrator/executive not a judge in the legal sense).
I used to work a law firm in Kentucky that represented a number of counties. We'd defend the jailers, the sheriffs, defend slip and falls on the county courthouse steps, etc.
Anyway, in some of these counties in Kentucky, there are very few good jobs except working for the county. So a guy would be elected judge executive and the first thing he does his hire an assistant/secretary, who was almost always the guy's wife. Then he would more or less fire all the other county employees and replace them with friends and family members.
It's actually against the law in the USA to fire someone from a public job due to his political beliefs, so lawsuits would be filed by people saying "I got fired from my sweet job on the county road crew by the new Republican County judge, because I'm a Democrat and I worked on Jim Bob's campaign opposing him." When in reality political affiliation had little to do with it, it was just pure nepotism in hiring/firing, which isn't illegal.

So Kentucky is a satellite office for Cambodia?

I worked with Micky Rife and his ex-girlfriend Reaksmey
https://www.facebook.com/reaksmey.pal
I have talked to a few of the students and they said that he quit to go work in the usa. even had a going away party for him.
IDK if he did it or not but hopefully he didn't.
I would not wish that upon any kids, especially his daughter Ashley.
My daughter went to school there while I was teaching. I have not asked her yet but I will her this weekend.

Yeah, no biggie. There no rush.napalmfred wrote: My daughter went to school there while I was teaching. I have not asked her yet but I will her this weekend.
Next weekend will be soon enough.
If it was my daughter I expect that I would have a little more urgency.

Rushing in without careful thought for wording isn't going to help anything. One day.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:Yeah, no biggie. There no rush.napalmfred wrote: My daughter went to school there while I was teaching. I have not asked her yet but I will her this weekend.
