You need to check your privilege, white devil.
That's like, your opinion, man.

Everywhere but America, there you have to apologize for it. The funny thing is, most whites really don't care anymore what color anyone else is, they just want to live and let live, but one ugly act by one twisted white guy and we are all to blame.

Same for the Islamophobia that has gripped parts of the world in recent times, blaming a whole population for attacks by extremists.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:54 am... one ugly act by one twisted white guy and we are all to blame.
The 'us and them complex' is alive and well.

Come on Kinard, you're smarter than that. Using made up words like that just shuts down dialogue.kinard wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:28 amSame for the Islamophobia that has gripped parts of the world in recent times, blaming a whole population for attacks by extremists.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:54 am... one ugly act by one twisted white guy and we are all to blame.

Funny how a healthy dislike for a totalitarian religion is framed as a mental disorder in the west nowadays.kinard wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:28 amSame for the Islamophobia that has gripped parts of the world in recent times, blaming a whole population for attacks by extremists.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:54 am... one ugly act by one twisted white guy and we are all to blame.

More peculiar is how prejudice and/or hate is considered a 'healthy dislike.'Visser wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 9:18 amFunny how a healthy dislike for a totalitarian religion is framed as a mental disorder in the west nowadays.kinard wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:28 amSame for the Islamophobia that has gripped parts of the world in recent times, blaming a whole population for attacks by extremists.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:54 am... one ugly act by one twisted white guy and we are all to blame.

Religion has been blamed for a lot of things. It makes it much easier to blame a religion when some of it's followers are doing horrible things in the name of that religion, and makes it harder for others not to see all who follow that religion are not to blame for those acts. Extremism in all forms should be put down like the evil it is. It pits us against each other and makes the world unsafe for everyone.

But what about when it's the religion itself from the top down that is responsible for untold amounts of death, destruction and oppression?

That has happened with more than one religion, and those religions have survived. There are many Muslims in the world who do not believe the tenets of their religion call for violence. As I stated in another thread, I lived for quite a while in a Muslim run town in southern Mindanao, Philippines and they were all very nice to me. I am for punishing extremists of any ilk, but not punishing anyone for their religion.

There are also many Christians in the world that do not adhere to the conquest model of expansion, but that doesn't mean there haven't been millions of deaths that have happened in the name of religion. I agree that people should be seen for what they are and do, but to ignore the forces behind totalitarian religions is something that should not be overlooked.
