I know an ex-Special Forces guy in Phnom Penh. I know he's not bullshitting because I've seen his album with loads of pictures of him in Vietnam with Nung tribesmen.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Maybe they are just Polaroid from paint-balling with his Vietnamese buddies from down the pub.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:53 pmI know an ex-Special Forces guy in Phnom Penh. You can get those new film for Polaroid cameras that look aged.

Met an old Scotsman about 25 years ago who claimed he was a mercenary in Vietnam around 1966-69, doing clandestine stuff for the yanks and spent a lot of time with the Montagnard, blah, blah.
He said they would not have any yanks on their jobs, considered them a liability.

Or like the story of David Hackworth calling out Admiral Boorda, who committed suicide, rather than having to live with the shame. This Hackworth guy is a thrill to read about, something else, really.
Oh, well, I'm off to my morning cappuccino and bistro box, cheers!

They weren't Polaroids.

Some people can do lots of things with Photoshop these days.
And some of those fake Special Forces guys can be dangerous i'm guessing. Nut job dangerous.
Whatever happened to the guy who got locked up for the Jill Dando murder?

GTFOH with your nonsense about Polaroids and Photoshop. I bet neither of the above commenters have ever used either if they think they are that easy to fake.

You just bought back some memories of my visit to David Hackworth's duck farm at Uki NSW in the 90's. Some friends of mine bought his property and also knew Robert G Barrett who stayed and wrote about D Hackworth in one of his larrikin books called 'The Godson' . I saw the bomb bunker in his house, now a wine cellar, they say he was slightly paranoid about a nuke strike. They also told me he had a very popular bar in the Philipines, Angeles City, and he really lived it up. By all accounts a real character yet I never heard of him until then.newnewnewbie wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 7:19 amOr like the story of David Hackworth calling out Admiral Boorda, who committed suicide, rather than having to live with the shame. Never mind.
The special forces guys I’ve met (SEAL, Royal Marine) never compare or criticise any other group or countries special forces.kinard wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 5:53 pmMet an old Scotsman about 25 years ago who claimed he was a mercenary in Vietnam around 1966-69, doing clandestine stuff for the yanks and spent a lot of time with the Montagnard, blah, blah.

They are all brothers.
My betting is that Scotsman was a cook, like Steven Seagull on that ship.

For an Irishman you really have a lack of humour. I was taking the piss mate and if you haven’t realised yet after over four years of me being on here most of my posts follow a similar pattern!

Steven Seagull actually helped train CIA operatives and did "special favors" for the agency years ago.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 10:36 amThe special forces guys I’ve met (SEAL, Royal Marine) never compare or criticise any other group or countries special forces.kinard wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 5:53 pmMet an old Scotsman about 25 years ago who claimed he was a mercenary in Vietnam around 1966-69, doing clandestine stuff for the yanks and spent a lot of time with the Montagnard, blah, blah.

I'm sure Miguelito can back me up on this.
He is also a lethal Buddhist ninja who taught Anderson Silva how to front kick.
