Food safety with the blackouts
Because he's not a durianflake, I'm sure LPB will be quite happy with both of those wishes - I mean at least we haven't escalated to the "I hope you get the French Pox" yet. Just another day in K440 banter paradise!

I'm more interested in what the majority of the locals are eating on a day to day basis. And that means street food or where the locals are eating (unless i'm in Cambodia where not many are interested in st food).
In general : street food = culture.
I'd rather take the risk of getting dysentry than not finding out what the locals are eating.
Hugs.

Don’t worry, I’m working on one for you that should be ready tomorrow. (I have a new assistant so she needs to do something all day after all.)Spigzy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 6:09 pmBecause he's not a durianflake, I'm sure LPB will be quite happy with both of those wishes - I mean at least we haven't escalated to the "I hope you get the French Pox" yet. Did you end up paying your fresh graduate personal assistant the US$ 100,000 per annum that your fellow 2.0s were demanding one be paid because, 'you work for an international company, and that is what they should pay.' ??Miguelito wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 9:55 pmDon’t worry, I’m working on one for you that should be ready tomorrow. "We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
What about the hardship allowance? That's surely another $20k+?

If PB got Giardia, I would consider it poetic justice.
The best part of him would be flushed away.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

I think you’re both right - some expat 1.0’s are really snooty, but sometimes you come across some that are genuinely decent people. That bar across the river, run by an Aussie, I think his name was Ian but he went by another name which I’ve forgotten. I found his bar completely by accident but both times I went he sat and chatted and I loved his stories.Cricket99 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 10:58 pmPlease, alot of the expats 1.0 are a bunch of cry babies, just like expat 2.0. The stupid shit that many of the expat 1.0 got up to were just as stupid as the dumbass swimming in the canal. Many of the longer term expats (that I meet irl) here simply love talking about how difficult it was xx amount of years ago compared to now, and how much more they know about everything here. It's tedious to the point where when someone outside of my group of friends say they have been here for more than 10 years, I just walk away and sit somewhere else for my beer because they have nothing interesting to talk about except the same stories over and over and over again.johnny99 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 10:24 pmCricket,
Cambodia has changed dramatically in the last 15 years. Also the type of expat has changed dramatically. Generally speaking Expat 1.0 for lack of a better term was a much heartier group. 2.0's have a much larger wanker factor. 1.0's tended to be a more independent and unique group.
As far as the food issues go just plan on getting sick. It will pass quickly.
Same for the manager at Larry’s, not the English one, think his name is Andy, always up for a chat and told stories from the war, showed pictures etc...
The Garage before it was sold (and sold again) always seemed to have some non judgemental expat 1.0’s with some good chat....
Much more interesting than the chat from most expat 2.0’s
Good god, I'm amazed at how fast time flies reading this thread. I feel like JM just sold garage and it's already been sold again.
I was considering keeping the 'durianflake', it was a thing of beauty! But, glad to be back to normal - thanks!

it's a legitimate question.
if someone thinks that 4-5 hours without power every other day or so won't effect safety than
why not have all businesses, such as restaurants and bars turn off their power when the are closed?
they aren't opening and closing their refrigerators and freezers and certainly don't need the a/c going.
just a battery run CCTV to keep the wolves at bay.
less drain on the system and a nice gesture to our new overlords.
a little bird told me that the big man had a pow wow with the big man asking about his power plan.
what power plan?
sad days indeed for poor little cambodia.
