Weird abandoned 5 Star Hotel in Siem Reap.
Apparently the reason it is empty is there are very large cracks in places and the owners fear it might collapse one day because of the structural damage...

That's fair enough but it seems weird to leave all that furniture in there.

And prime location, wonder why nobody has bought it. There is another one a couple of hundred meters from there, apparently built by Vietnamese who ran out of money.

It seems odd that these places are left abandoned in what must be such a prime tourist area.
In relation to the OP hotel, which has still got the majority of its furnishings, one wonders if it's in the middle of a legal battle and therefore, not allowed to take possession of them at this time.
I expect the easily saleable items, such as tv's and fridges would have been purloined by some head honcho or other.
Of course, it could be that the guests contracted dengue from those shower ponds

The same reason many of the villas in Kep have never been bought - the owners are asking way too much, even more so.
Same in SHV but that place defies logic.

Well, I guess the Chinese will buy them sooner or later.

Who knows.
The influx has not happened in Kampot as many have predicted, and expected, with only a few “I’ve heard” and “The Chinese bought a hotel in town. Don’t know where. But they did” etc etc.
Kep has always been expensive but the only difference now is Kampot has caught up, mainly due to speculation (fear of missing/making more money) but also demand (refugees, both local and expats) but it’ll stabalise this year.

There is another one on road 6,its not quite finished, been like this since at least 2005, i inquired a long time ago and the asking price was a cool 19 million USD,
I see now someone has started doing it up so maybe the Chinese, would still need a few million more spent,
