Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Actually if go back to OZ i can earn approx 1800$ a week working 66 hours a week.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 8:31 pmYes he did, countless times. This is not the first time the doofus has bullshitted about himself.
Thats cleared, before tax it is closer to 2200$ a week.
Thats 100K per year and then some.
66 Hours a week is no easy task, but imagine the possibilities in cambodia with 100K large....
With a budget of 2000K a month its 4 years of living, if you work part time and earn 500$ a month means it would last 5 years.
Thats 5 years of good living for 1 years sacrifice in australia.
Amazing.
The temptations in Cambodia are tremendous, pulling you, urging you to the dark side.
The Grim Reaper is alive here, and doing very well indeed.

I don't know if studies have been conducted on expat suicide in the Kingdom, maybe some lazy NGO could do one, but there could be a problem. Remember, it's non-westerners as well. And, while suicide is pretty normal everywhere it becomes more apparent in a small community like Khmer440.
Moreover, I agree that it's also true that many expats become more lonely and bored while living abroad. The few I interacted with told me as much. Maybe getting expats more active in the community, push them to work or help volunteer, helping them move back home or having someone to reach out to for help would be beneficial. Hopefully, people like Boomer who was obviously in pain could get some help or treatment.
I don't know, but living in Thailand, it seemed like a daily event and if you do a search on google you'll see it appears to be an issue outside of the Kingdom. How much, I have no clue. Anyway, I loved living in Cambodia and while the boredom bug did bite me from time to time, I enjoyed my lifestyle and selfishly never gave other expats a second thought. I hope everyone who's in pain can get some help and cheers to all those who don't need it.

I don't understand all the drama so sorry if I seem blunt. I've had a whole lot of friends die over the years, from my mate Billy who got decapitated by driving his pick up badly when we were just 16 to Andy who fell off a roof and got impaled by a vertical scaffolding pole a few years later and all the other friends who checked out early since then, mainly due to idiocy. In Cambodia I've tried to stay away from self-destructive types. So I've known a few people who snuffed it here, from English guys who thought pharmaceuticals were candy to central-Asians who apparently tripped and died on the stairwell. I don't know anyone who ever committed suicide here, sorry to hear about Boomer but I never knew him.offshoresports wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 9:52 pmI don't know if studies have been conducted on expat suicide in the Kingdom, maybe some lazy NGO could do one, but there could be a problem. I always thought people came here to see out their last years, wether that’s through illness or old age I don’t know.
I’ll die here that’s for sure. (In about 2060)
