What does lam mean, or is that 1am?

No it’s correct. I was talking about castrated lambs.

Why are we "outing" posters when they die by telling the world what their username was? The last thing I want is for my family to google my name when I die and see all the stupid stuff I've written on these forums. Why isn't the confidentiality of a poster's ID preserved after death?
Why not just report "Belgian Peter Bogaerts died." And then a year from now if someone who didn't know him in real life asks on another thread "Hey, why did Boomer stop posting," someone can who knew him could respond "He died."

Then don't post on the forum. Isn't that the advice you gave in a post once? If you aren't comfortable with your mother reading it don't post it? Or did that only apply to specific poster?gavinmac wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 4:06 pmWhy are we "outing" posters when they die by telling the world what their username was? I am beginning to think you might actually be proud of what you have posted and be unconcerned with what your family may read about you.
Have a good one.
Identities aren't preserved during alive time anyway.

I think they would enjoy spending hours and hours just reading your brilliant posts from 2005 and 2006

I don't think anybody did post his real name here (it wasn't Pete Boogs or Peter Boomer).gavinmac wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 4:06 pmWhy are we "outing" posters when they die by telling the world what their username was? Why didn't you have a clause that nullified the arrangement when he went to the other side?Playboy wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 4:39 pm^ Do not worry, I still remember our arrangement regarding your death.gavinmac wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 4:06 pmWhy are we "outing" posters when they die by telling the world what their username was? Mate, that was straight Jim Carroll.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 1:07 amI don't understand all the drama so sorry if I seem blunt. I've had a whole lot of friends die over the years, from my mate Billy who got decapitated by driving his pick up badly when we were just 16 to Andy who fell off a roof and got impaled by a vertical scaffolding pole a few years later and all the other friends who checked out early since then, mainly due to idiocy. In Cambodia I've tried to stay away from self-destructive types. So I've known a few people who snuffed it here, from English guys who thought pharmaceuticals were candy to central-Asians who apparently tripped and died on the stairwell. I don't know anyone who ever committed suicide here, sorry to hear about Boomer but I never knew him.offshoresports wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 9:52 pmI don't know if studies have been conducted on expat suicide in the Kingdom, maybe some lazy NGO could do one, but there could be a problem. Remember, it's non-westerners as well. And, while suicide is pretty normal everywhere it becomes more apparent in a small community like Khmer440.
Moreover, I agree that it's also true that many expats become more lonely and bored while living abroad. The few I interacted with told me as much. Maybe getting expats more active in the community, push them to work or help volunteer, helping them move back home or having someone to reach out to for help would be beneficial. Hopefully, people like Boomer who was obviously in pain could get some help or treatment.
I don't know, but living in Thailand, it seemed like a daily event and if you do a search on google you'll see it appears to be an issue outside of the Kingdom. How much, I have no clue. Anyway, I loved living in Cambodia and while the boredom bug did bite me from time to time, I enjoyed my lifestyle and selfishly never gave other expats a second thought. I hope everyone who's in pain can get some help and cheers to all those who don't need it.
