Hotel at Preah Vihear
Hotel at Preah Vihear
Has anyone on here stayed at the Preah Vihear Boutique Hotel and is it really as nice as it looks? I am considering a trip up there with my children when we visit end of June and want to make sure they are comfortable.

Never stayed but it did look nice n flash, the whole town of Sra Em ( I think that was its name ) was a bit of a shit hole though and I found Preah Vihear to be very underwhelming and probably the least interesting of the Khmer temples I did two years ago on my French Indochina bike tour. It was also a fucking cunt of a ride up.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
I haven't stayed there but did visit once.
Rooms are simple but nice. The best you will find in the area. The restaurant is nice but don't expect gourmet food.
There was/is a childrens playing area next to the pool. A little sad when I saw it so hopefully they've given it a lick of paint since then.
The hotel is not especially cheap but the owner told me its because of high electricity costs, having to send the laundry to Siem Reap or somewhere to wash it (!) etc etc.
For one night it should be fine. I stayed in an ok guesthouse in Sra Em near the market. I think that cost $20 or less and also did the trick for me.

Thank you. I have been to the temple before. I think that was 2006. We stayed in hammocks in Choam Ksant, east of Sra Em. Yes both shit hole towns but I really enjoyed the general area and think it will be worthwhile. Thanks for the input.horace wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 5:45 amNever stayed but it did look nice n flash, the whole town of Sra Em ( I think that was its name ) was a bit of a shit hole though and I found Preah Vihear to be very underwhelming and probably the least interesting of the Khmer temples I did two years ago on my French Indochina bike tour.
