If you haven't been here in a good few years, you should have a look around Koh Pich and the Tonle Bassac area just across the channel.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Reading the first post, let alone any of the subsequent posts might have dissuaded anyone else with a pulse from thinking that, but congrats to you for sharing.

I visit my maid from 94 - 2001 and her family, who treat me like their family.
We hang out and tell old stories, laugh and cry.
Go to the FCC and remember when it was the FCCC and Marty Flitman's black and white of the old Khmer woman by the rice paddy used to entrance me. Marty was going to give me a print, but a building caught fire and he lost the negatives. Sit upstairs and stare out at the Tonle Sap, watch the street traffic, watch the street people.
Go to ACE and visit the staff there from years and years ago.
Eat fried tofu in chili sauce at a restaurant I like.
Find art stores and comb through art, see who's doing good work and buy some things from the good artists.
Get my jade necklace put back in its gold frame. Yep, gotta do that. Go see Madame Sek Lim and get it fixed.
Go by my old house on 232? by Stad Olympique. Remember when Ken used to get mad at me for doing stair laps over there. He always thought I was going to get mugged or worse. I got past the shit on the stairs going up, and loved watching people do Tai Chi in the evenings.
Feel nostalgic as hell. End up drinking somewhere with old friends.

But, yes, Koh Pich is an excellent jogging circuit in the mornings or afternoons, or a good Khmer experience for a beer in the evenings.

It's usually the heading that attracts the reader to give a shit what subsequent posters say. See how that works? Right. Congratulations....moethebartender wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 2:51 pmReading the first post, let alone any of the subsequent posts might have dissuaded anyone else with a pulse from thinking that, but congrats to you for sharing.

Old folks? You must mean the youngsters.
When I visited earlier this year, they were still doing zumba every evening. Don't know about dawn, I am never up that late.
