There's loads of options on Amazon much cheaper than that. They sell manual squeeze-bottle versions for under $10 and they work very well. I know because I use one.amirite wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 10:38 amPortable bidet anyone?

I'm in a rented flat ATM and can't fuck with the plumbing, so a hard-fitting was out of the question. However, "Squirt water at your crack, you never go back" when it comes to doing the clean up and having spent a long time paperless I decided to try the bottle option.
It obviously doesn't have the infinite stream the guns have but it's got decent capacity and with decent technique it's probably at least 90% as good as a gun. Which is 1000% better than paper for both cleaning and not aggravating piles.
The reality is if you are using paper, you're essentially wiping your arse with wood.

Paper is fine. Run it under the sink or spit on it if one must, but paper is fine.

Now there's some advice I wont be taking.

If you rub peanut butter into a shag carpet, you'll need more than a tissue to get it cleaned properly.
Same here. Can't stand having to do without. First thing I did when I moved back to the states with my wife was to install a bidet. They're available at the big box home improvement stores and are easy to attach to the standard angle stop valve without having to close the water main. We still use a couple of sheets of TP, but I think we've saved thousands on toilet paper over the past 10 years here.
That's like, your opinion, man.

Agreed. Paper is inefficent and just a shitty proposition all the way around. I dont like using, shopping or paying for shit-paper.

Having grown up in a icy climate, I can assure you that I have never heard of anybody dying from frostbite/hypothermia due to a minor splash of water. If you are totally drenched, yes that would be an obvious problem, but in such cases you would either not head out in that state, or instantly seek shelter/change clothes. And if in some far off location where no shelter / spare clothes is to be found, just start a camp fire (Who would walk far out into nature during winter time without spare clothing?)Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 12:51 amin icy climes a wet patch on your pants could result in frost-bite and death within hours.
If you dont know how to start a camp fire when needed, you would most probably not wander hours away from shelter in the cold season
Edit: I actually once suffered hypothermia during a winter camp, the wind changed in the middle of the night and our shelter got about a dm of snow on top of us, me being the only one not having a rain shelter around my sleeping bag, got soaked as did my replacements clothes, but it got resolved by sneaking into one of my mates sleeping bags for heat exchange, he complained a bit that it was not roomy enough for two non lovers, but it worked out. And in the morning we dried my stuff with a slightly enlarge breakfast fire.
