What does it mean to be the fittest/strongest when we speak of survival?
Mate . . I am not going to search through his books for a specific quote. Anyone who has studied Popper knows this to be a central tenet of this thinking. See here in section 3 for example. https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/popper/
This is all getting a bit silly. Either you have ideas you would like to share so they can be tested, or you don't. If you do, share them. If you don't, just accept that your coy references to 'them' and 'the powers that be' are dismissed as meaningless nonsense until you back them up with something more concrete.
I like your 'give me a month' approach. You used exactly the same ploy to a similar challenge from me around 4-5 years ago. I'm still waiting.
All i want is a simple question from you and / violet: Who are these shadowy forces who control the world and who keep us poor people as oppressed untermenschen? No vague generalisations. No evasive tactics. Just tell us. You have your theory. Share it with us and tell us.
Why is it so hard to answer that question?

Shall I help you out a bit, so you're not shy?
I'm guessing it's the jews. Is it the jews?
It's usually the jews with conspiracy theorists.

The fact you are putting me with spring rain and references to a shadowy them shows you don’t actually read to understand but rather to have your preconceptions confirmed.
I stated that I am referring to people in positions of power, whether that be financial power, technological skills power or in a position of societal power (governments).
I am not talking about conspiracy theories. I am talking about real technology, real events, real capabilities.
I am talking about how REAL things in the hands of those motivated by gaining more power can be damaging.
The damage can be at individual level (a jealous partner) or at corporate level or at criminal level.
But you want to cross pollute with other threads and old threads rather than explore a very real concern for individuals companies and governments

Mindfulness. Did you not read my initial posts or did you throw it in here as a playful jab? Finding ways to avoid the uncomfortable questions in life is one way of choosing to get through it. It is not my way.slavedog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 7:38 pmYes, I would dismiss it in the same way. I don't think I particularly display a lot of respect to any posters on here, although there are people who post on here whom I like and respect, yourself included.
I just think that it is not healthy to get into one's thirties and certainly forties and still be thinking about these kind of abstract propositions so much that it causes one mental anguish. Such matters are best left to first year philosophy students to debate after a drunken night out.
Rather than posting on here looking for answers that don't exist, I would suggest reading some philosophy. Stoicism would be the obvious place to start.
Or some books on mindfulness, which draws from various wisdoms such as Buddhism. I'm not especially in to it myself, but people seem to be using it more and more as an antidote to the stresses of life in the modern world.

Well said. There is far too much of this garbage polluting the forum. Nobody wants to read nerds pretending to be Speedy Gonzales or incomprehensible drugged-up garbage, nor do they want to know about introspective, navel-gazing paranoia. It's all self-indulgent nonsense. The forum, and especially the Speakeasy, needs to get back to concentrating on Cambodia related topics. All that other shit should be chucked into the "Not Cambodia" section, or perhaps create a new section called "Not anything", that all this crap can be dumped in. Only allow members with over 500 posts to access it, it would be a lot less embarrassing because newly-joined up members wouldn't see it.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 6:15 pmAnd stop blaming it on other people. Noone gives a shit about our lives, certainly not enough to be sitting in darkened rooms trying to find ways to keep control on us; we are really not that fascinating or interesting.
Finally, what is this doing in Cambodia Speakeasy, or is it now ok to post random bollocks in any part of the forum?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

It is what people who like to apply reductionist principles like to categorise.
I humbly request that you wait until I am ready to make a clear statement.
Thank you.
I also, kindly request, that you do not attempt to pigeon-hole us in such a misleading way.
By what do you mean: 'The Jews' ?
That statement is, in itself, an insult to Jewry.
I think that is wrong.
As I shall show - if we can both be patient.

Here are some snippets from your post:
"Government, billionaires and hackers will control the lives of the masses, who will be nothing but ants and worker bees, seduced to accept the situation by talk of protection, special attention and convenience."
"And this type of insight into the world is what really triggered depression in me decades ago."
"I am not in control of my life. Those who feel in control by including the discipline of exercise are not in control of their lives. A handful of if powerful people are in control."
"I hate feeling powerless/helpless with my fate determined by others"
You are clearly arguing that the rich and powerful elites are somehow controlling your lives, leaving you - what's the phrase? - an ant, a worder bee . . powerless and helpless with your fate determined by others.
Let's be very clear here. They are not. Your fate is determined by yourself, and the choices you make.
But I'll play along. Let me ask you: who precisely are these people. Is it just some 'governments' or all governments? What happens when governments change? Are they then inducted into the same programme? Who does the inducting?
Who, exactly, are the rich? The CEOs of banks? Zuckerberg? Cook? How do they get to the point where they have this common purpose of controlling you like worker bees? Are there secret facebook pages on which they unleash their plans? What happens if they disagree? Who arbitrates?
How do you define rich and powerful? You are rich and powerful compared to the average Khmer. My boss is richer and more powerful than me, and I'm richer and more powerful than my team at work.
It's all a bit confused and muddled, don't you think?

No. And I have no interest in butting heads with you in order to form a stronger presentation of my opinions.
You will form your opinions as to why.
The real reason is that that isn’t what lights my fire. Perhaps I am just lazy. I have never enjoyed interactions with people like you who enjoy that type of engagement. We each bring different strengths and tools to a team.

Dallows,
I remember you chasing 'Telesales' or some other - I forget which, now. It was before you became the Chief Whip or whatever.
I remember your hounding of 'Bullshit Posters.'
I remember thinking: 'That bloke is going to be a really cool poster - ever in search of justice, a cool mind, an inquisitive mind...
How I would like you to be a bit more open-minded and inquisitive, now.
For, are we not all searching for truth?
A similar feeling applies to Lucky Lucan: I really admire that bloke's knowledge of some stuff; yet, he seems completely ignorant of some, more important (in my own, humble view) stuff.
I won't bother to give examples, now. I really am that tired.
But what might seem like nonsense might, if people think enough about it, emerge with greater credence than was at first given likelihood.
Well, thanks for a good discussion - so far.

I don't know how much more open-minded and inquisitive i can be. I'm positively pleading with you to tell me your views, and to answer my questions. Isn't that the very definition of being inquisitive?springrain wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:38 pm

Yet you refuse to.
You have refused to today. You've refused to on dozens of occasions over the last few years. I've pressed, and you've evaded. I question, you avoid. I ask why; you say . . give me time.
It's almost like you're avoiding providing a direct answer - YOUR VIEWS - to a direct question. And that makes me wonder why.
You don't want to engage in a discussion about a subject that you felt passionate enough about to start?violet wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:28 pmNo. And I have no interest in butting heads with you in order to form a stronger presentation of my opinions.

Is it because you've come to the conclusion that you're talking out of your arse. Perhaps we have got this forum thing all wrong. When people post asinine bollocks, perhaps it would better if we all agreed, patted you on the head and said: don't worry hon, it will all be ok.
Try mumsnet. It might suit your needs better.
