Inflation in Cambodia
Inflation. Yes i noticed it right from the beginning of the Pandemic albeit at a slower pace that recently. Most Supermarkets that cater to Expats seem to hike their prices on a weekly, if not daily rate now. This includes canned fish from Thailand etc., Eggs which were 5000 Riel/10pcs are now charged between 5500 and 6000 Riel. So even the locals feel it in their pockets. What's your experience ?
Inflation and significantly higher interest rates to attempt to control it will be the dominant economic condition right around the world for the next decade. It’s going to be murder for those people who took out massive mortgages thinking 1-2% was the historic norm.Expatissimo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 10:59 amInflation. Well, what would you expect, when the borders are largely closed and importing becomes difficult Add to that, the limited overall sales, etc.Expatissimo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 10:59 amInflation. Avoid those people and those places and you're experience will be otherwise. Pretty much all the food we buy is locally-sourced organic meat and veg/fruit, and it hasn't been an issue. If you choose to live in an expat bubble when the borders are closed, pay the price accordingly.Expatissimo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 10:59 amInflationSupermarkets that cater to Expats .... Why would it be murder for those who got fixed rate mortgages at 2%?Guest wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:43 pm
