I read that ABA now charges a 3% fee for ATM withdrawals from a non-Cambodian Mastercard. So if you withdraw the equivalent of $500US, the fee is about $15 or 60,000 riel.
For Visa cards, it's a flat $5 for up to $400 and 2% for withdrawals over $400.

Damn, that's a crazy high fee, wish I had known that. Thanks.
At least we have ATMs now. When I first came here there were none..... Had to go to the bank by day, or use the floating casino money exchange by night...

Great thread. Physically attacking the machine never occurred to me but if the fee goes any higher I'll consider this option.fapsara wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 7:38 amHow long before we see some new posts on this thread?
Expats v. ATMs
I was just in my local ABA branch. The ATM room had two (very pretty!) girls to assist you with the self-service machines.

Great, can they give me some of my money back? The ABA fee, combined with the fee from back home, I'm looking at slightly over twenty bucks to make a single withdrawal from an ATM. It's absurd.
@Rune on a serious note, you can do USDT to USD at various Chinese places near Naga / Diamond island.
Make sure to send it from an exchange. If a private wallet; ensure you have USDT on Tron as that is what they use (I had USDT on ETH, couldn't, same for BTC/Lightning, not supported). The fee on a USDT 300 was $2.
They only speak Chinese but Google translate fixes that. The VN shop could speak some English.

Hostess Banks ?
In that case watch out for short-changing, fake notes and fees if you want to take out any of your money.
