I don't see anybody on this board as a threat against my work, so her is some information.chkwoot wrote:Hey Mr. Cool. I'm going to live in your city for 6 mos out of the year. You don't know me from Adam, but would you please give me (and EVERYONE who reads this) ALL the information I need to do YOUR job successfully, and compete with you? Oh, and I want you to do this for free. A reasonable request? Probably not in your country, definitely not here.
Either make contacts FACE TO FACE, or hire someone to do the work for you. Also, most of the successful places in town have FULL-TIME western owners/managers. Expats tend to frequent places where they know and like the owner/manager. If you're not friendly, or are gone half the year, you probably aren't going to do very well. Bars that I go to tend to have problems when the westerner is gone for awhile (padded bills, shrinkage, lack of upkeep, drop in food quality, etc).
There are over 250 Phnom Penh bars/restaurants listed on TripAdvisor. There are thousands not listed. Competition is fierce. Do you really expect to get good reliable info from complete strangers for free? Good luck! You're going to need it!
ok, this is what you need. Work permit, a degree in anything related to oil industry, and get a oil company to hire you (BP, Statoil, Conoco, BG or any other company that operate in the norwegian section of the north sea). Normal rotation is 2 weeks on work and 4 weeks off, normal pay is from 80 000 and up, engineer would probably get paid around-150 000 dollar. English or norwegian language. Good health.
Thank you for the information. I'm not expecting to get good reliable information, but some information is better than none. There are more than tousand restaurant/bars in phnom penh, couldn't be that hard then.
Have a nice day
