I think often it’s a few minutes of not moving as they finish their lunch/beer/Facebook session.
Other times they accept your job but head off in another direction as they are on another non-PassApp job and have accepted yours for when they finish that one.
I just cancel and re-order when that happens.
It’s not that frequent of an occurrence though.
The only real irritation I have is when they start the journey on the app before they reach me and then ‘forget’ to end the journey at the end while he tries to make small talk . I have reported a couple of drivers for this. The company are responsive by email.
I heard of one person newly arrived in Cambodia had a 18,000 fare and wasn’t yet adjusted to the money. Stupidly they handed over $18 and the driver took it. PassApp refunded the money by WING a few hours later after contacting them.
App for ordering Tuk Tuks?

I do get sick of having the driver accept the ride and then it's 60 seconds of the car not moving because he's trying to figure out the location of the pick up on the app. Then when he does start moving it's in the wrong direction.
You know me. I am fickle and give multiple second chances unless i get really annoyed. So, I am giving them a few more rides to do better. Like you, although I can’t believe you use them, I dislike the vehicle not moving fairly soon after accepting. At those times I cancel. What really bugs me is their map...
It does not seem capable of guaging where I am, both at time of making the booking and when the driver is trying to find me, unlike the Uber app, which is excellent..
It doesn’t respond very quickly to show the driver where I am headed and they always ask me where I am going. i don’t want to have to repeat information that has already been provided (it’s the milennial in me)
Three times now, I have had the app end the ride while I am still en route, and only about half way along in my journey. Some drivers laugh and understand what has happened, one driver was efn clueless, and couldn’t seem to navigate to the street... a big one... without stopping ever few metres to play with the app/map to try to see where to go.
I find, too, that generally they follow the crap map on the app without reading the traffic and choosing better routes. I have been spoilt by my excellent tuk tuk driver though, who expertly reads traffic and drives like i would.
For some reason the drivers don’t understand my accent as well as a regular tuk tuk guys either.

Uber does work the best but then again it probably should, the cars just take too long for me to use, it can double the journey time compared to a TukTuk. Grab is by far the worst from my experience, the map is terrible.violet wrote:gavinmac wrote:I hear you're quitting PassApp. What happened?violet wrote:This is a funny thread. Have you tried iTsumo, wait times sometimes are a little longer but every driver I have had has been a little bit better than the PassApp ones (I know a lot of drivers use both but that is my experience so far) They give you % cash back that you can then use to pay for a ride. I have had 3 for free so far which is always nice.
I only ever use the apps when I am not in a rush to get there. I have had Grab/Uber drivers accept while they are still on a fare (probably on the other app) and the wait time for all the apps has never been right (had iTsumo yesterday said 15 mins but was there in 2, and often the other way round)
Still prefer them to having to barter about the price though, especially at night when TukTuks go into rip-off mode

I've noticed that the PassApp app now directs them to take the riverside past Nagaworld when traveling between the riverside and BKK1. This is a longer route than taking Norodom or Street 19 or Street 51. In fact, I got a Pass App from roughly Street 228 and Street 51 to the riverside/Street 130 and the app wanted to route the trip around independence monument, past Nagaworld, etc.

Isn’t that just taking into account the no tuktuks on Norodom rule?gavinmac wrote:I've noticed that the PassApp app now directs them to take the riverside past Nagaworld when traveling between the riverside and BKK1. No because it ignores the existence of Street 63, Street 51, Street 19, Street 15, Street 13, etc.
