No! Girlfriend and manager must not be the same person. Can ...
I am looking now at different scenario's:
1. I stay here with my wife, have a western contact in SR (I have at this moment) and (after your advice) a Khmer manager and come a couple of times a year over.
2. I come to live in Cambodia have a Khmer manager and hopefully a nice Khmer girlfriend .
Ideally, the Khmer girlfriend, who I hope to trust, could be the Khmer manager. On the other hand, is it wise that your girlfriend knows how much money you make ? But when you are a real team with your girlfriend, that would be great
I am not looking for a very young girlfriend, I prefer just a little mature (not old .
I just have the impression that i'd rather have a woman manager than a guy manager in Cambodia. Has nothing to do that I like Cambodian woman a lot. I think they are more serious, ambitious and can be trusted sooner. (Not talking about bargirls!!!) Especially younger, better educated young girls have impressed me (not sexually ment!).
And about the trusting part, I have read all the stories here on the forum, so I am warned and careful. All the stories do make me very suspicious. Can I trust anyone over there as long as I am not there everyday?
I know, a lot of when and ifs ! I take it day by day and continue to work on the project.

Whaw really great contribution
I had great advise and inside information here. But I don't need a moron to predict bankruptcy without giving any argument.
Was that too difficult to read? How can I predict what will happen in the next 12 months. Don't know who I will meet. Yes, that can be confusing. No! Girlfriend and manager must not be the same person. Can ...

Having achievable goals is good. Trusting your intimate partner is a good goal. I have no clue if it is achievable for you. You sound confused (see Miggle's quote above).

No I am not confused at all.
I found the post about not showing my white face very enlightning! But where to find a reliable Khmer manager?
Finding him/her will be the main priority in the proces of lauching, distributing and selling my product in the course of 2018.
Someone else made the connection with possible girlfriend. I only said that it would be nice when I could team up with a possible girlfriend who could be a manager. So A = Khmer manager, B = Possible girlfriend. This could lead to A + B being the same or NOT. So not confusing anymore?

you need to do a lot of research when you get here, the first thing i did was find a few successful business owners that had been here a long time and picked there brains over many many months, they where/are great people that will give there advise freely but of course i was respectful of there time so it takes many months and try not to be too pushy, finding the staff is the most important thing you will have to do,loyal honest staff do not grow on trees and are highly respected and sort after, when you do work with them make sure you hold on to them:)
you need to invest in your staff, training and education, flexible work conditions and take slow but steady steps.it took me years to have the right team, some of my staff have now been with me over 10 years and we are now like family so its much better than in the early years.
what also important you need firm but fair rules on what is not acceptable, khmers dont really do the commission structure well IMO. but they prefer a solid monthly wage, something they can bank on.every dollar you invest in your staff will come back to you many times over.

I answered quite reasonably in another thread. About copyright, I think it was? You seemed to think laws on paper here actually mean something.james123 wrote:Whaw really great contribution

Anyway, best of luck with your endeavours.
Do keep us posted on your highly secure and completely defensible intellectual property-based tourist business with creative bookkeeping.
Oh, and the extramarital affairs with a string of dusky live-in accountant girlfriends who have entirely your best interests at heart.
@tarariverboat, I am doing a lot of reseach, have a person in SR helping me with that, and it is the reason why I ask so many questions!
@ epidemiks, sorry for calling you a moron But I was quite offended by your post.
- Completely defensible intellectual property? I have been publisher for 25 years. Yeah copyright is important. For what I know, normal Cambodian books and magazins are not copied at large scale too in Cambodia.
- tourist based, yeah, I don't think I can make some money by selling to Khmer
- with creative bookkeeping. I am from Belgium and every small construction company does work outside the books. In Cambodia that would be different? Every barowner does register every sold beer? I doubt it!
- the extramarital affairs? When I will move to cambodia, I will not have a wife anymore , When I stay in Belgium, I will not have a Cambodian girlfriend regretfully I will launch the product eitherway.
So your phrase is very suggestive but are my questions so strange or unwise? Just want to gather as much information and inside thoughts as possible.

That is just what i am trying to find out. I know it is completely different than in Europe. But it is not completely lawless either.I answered quite reasonably in another thread. About copyright, I think it was? You seemed to think laws on paper here actually mean something.
Will do, most posts helped me a lot!Anyway, best of luck with your endeavours.
- Not highly secure, gave away a lot already. It not that special. But there is no room for 2 of these products.Do keep us posted on your highly secure and completely defensible intellectual property-based tourist business with creative bookkeeping.

going back to ur OP
rather than ask a ton of questions here, why not pay for a plane ticket, enough money for a month stay and do research on the ground??You will know more in 1 week on the ground than all the questions you can ask.
Than assess if it is realistically doable
So you have not been there in almost a year?I was in Angkor Wat last year and lots of people are selling stuff there. How is this arranged? Do you need licence or permit? Is there a year -ticket, so someone can go there every day? I already did send an email to the APSARA Authority but got no reply. If anyone has informatie or is already selling stuff there please tell me!

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
That's because nobody reads. It has nothing to do with copyright enforcement. The few books that do sell are all photocopied.james123 wrote:For what I know, normal Cambodian books and magazins are not copied at large scale too in Cambodia.
Bless
I did that last year, was in SR 6 days! O Hell, I wish I could fly out now again!!!rather than ask a ton of questions here, why not pay for a plane ticket, enough money for a month stay and do research on the ground??You will know more in 1 week on the ground than all the questions you can ask.

As soon as I find the time I will!!! In the mean time we can work on this project. I can do that from here as well as from there, and I have a partner in SR working on it as well. But the things I learned from this forum are a great help!
Oh...the irony.violet wrote:Must we have two threads on the same topic?
