Looking for a cheap place, what should I do?

Queries related to building and decorating and whatever else the married dudes are up to, as well as all the repetitive questions about "Where can I find a nice air conditioned apartment in a good location for $75 a month?"

Looking for a cheap place, what should I do?

Aside from checking forums n suchlike, I've found very little information on exactly how one finds an apartment in PP. I'm arriving there in a few days time, and would like to find a place asap to avoid spending all my money on guesthouses. So, what's the best way to go about finding a place?

Looking for something cheap, about $150 would be good. Don't have many reqs but air-con is a must. Don't mind non-central locations or whatever, just not too far from everywhere. All I've heard is 'just turn up and look around', but around where? And in any case does that entail actually physically walking around looking for signs or going to some kind of real estate place or... I don't know!

Incidentally, if anybody knows of a place matching my description please let me know! Thanks!

The simplest method is to start at a guesthouse, befriend a few motodops and tuktuk drivers and tell them your requirement. They'll do the 'legwork' for you. The successful one will get a commission, maybe $50 from your future landlord, so it works for everyone.

Yeh, you just relax outside your favourite bar with a chilled beer or four and wait for them to report in.

Places for rent usually have signs on the gate or one of the windows with a phone number. Get on a moto and drive around town, into the different areas, take them down, then call them.

Cheap apartments vary by what comes with it and the general state of the surroundings , my wife usually has some on tap so give her a call at 092 983 769 , she only helps with what is decent enough for a barang .
