just looking for a hotel really, originally i was looking to spend $150 but the more i look for aparements (for example i see one earlier in Phnom Penh on here for $100 a month) im guessing that i can get a hotel room for cheaper then i first expected.
EDIT - in a tourist area with alot of english speaking people, with good wifi, near the airport, near places of socialising interest, i'm a young geeza just want to find my feet and get speaking to people, before u come to cambodia as u can imagine all u have to go on is youtube videos and forum posts.
Where have you stayed thats been nice and you would recommend personally ?

There are hundreds of hotels in Phnom Penh with AC and shower for under $100 per month. Can you be a little bit more specific about what you're looking for, the purpose of your trip, the specific location in Phnom Penh, etc.?

Is there even one of those $3/pd "hotels" you would stay as long as an hour in?gavinmac wrote:There are hundreds of hotels in Phnom Penh with AC and shower for under $100 per month. OP gives the intitial impression he's a high roller with $100/night to spend on a hotel.
Then you read between the lines and you realize he's in fact a cheap^charlie who wants to spend $100/month, not per day.

I didn't edit my post. I actually mean to post "per night". I don't know what he's asking about. Just because you can get a shit apartment for $100 a month doesn't mean you can get a hotel for $100 per month.logos wrote:OP gives the intitial impression he's a high roller with $100/night to spend on a hotel.

A hotel that rented out $3 a night rooms with aircon wouldn't be able to pay its electricity bill.
He might be a high roller who was planning to spend $150 a night but now asking about $100 a night hotel rooms because he has realized that accommodation is very cheap in Phnom Penh.
But you're probably right - Cheap Charlie.

close to the airport, good internet connection, hot and cold water, balcony, TV. all the rest im not bothered about as i will be moving onto the next hotel after, just wanting to land and find my feet somewhere nice anywhere nice really until i find some part time work then move close to that. I couldnt really be anymore specific as i'm not picky, i'm more wanting peoples opinions and to be shown in the right direction kinda lol.

I would like to see the business model of a hotel that can rent out a room with A/C at under $100 a month....

You are looking at a bunk in a hostel dorm with that budget, not a hotel or even guest house room.

I'd imagine a dorm with aircon would involve constant dreadlocked/man-bunned tiffs over the setting. I doubt many young expats want to stay near the airport, head for town.

just the electric bill on an air con /hot water room for a month would be close to $100

If you are flying in you might be in luck.
At the immigration desk in Pochentong airport there is a youngish guy called Sokkha.
Ask for him, and tell him what you need - he'll sort you out with accommodation.
