In my experience they either don't do it or if they do they doctor the contract so the rental amount comes in under the tax threshold which I am guessing is in the 300-400 bracket.offroadscholar wrote:Should be registered with MofF at Sangkat Office. 3 copies, only the Khmer versions are valid under Cambodian law. You, as the renter, should have a copy thats been stamped by the MofF. Only the khmer versions are stamped.Baconroll wrote:well leases on apartments usually go to the Sangkat so the local authorities know where foreigners are no?
Is that where they are registered then?
However, there's 10% witholding tax on rental income, so some landlords may avoid the correct procedure.....

The guy's Facebook page is hilarious. Nearly all his "friends" are teenage girls and all his posts are either him looking miserable or pathetic self-pitying memes.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Must've been true love, only about 40 yrs age difference by the looks of it, I'm honestly surprised it didn't work out and that he's been screwed over.

Be thankful that you only lost a house. If you had been in America you would be paying her alimony as well.I am an old fat bastard that has made mistakes and paid for it in my younger days. The best advice that I can give you is to be damn thankful that you were in Cambodia rather then the U.S. where you would lose the house and pay alimony as well.A house is a house. You can build a better one when you find someone new.The fact that your former wife signed a lease agreement to prevent her from cheating you speaks volumes. She was in the relationship for the purpose of taking advantage of you or she would never have signed the agreement.I have been married to a Cambodian wife for over 20 years and have help raise 24 of her nieces and nephews because their parents died.Every Cambodian girl that I know, would have refused to sign that lease agreement and backed out of the relationship because they would have been offended by the insinuation that they are dishonest.Only a girl that intended to use you for what she could get out of you would have signed it.If you find a decent girl from a decent family, she will not cheat you.I have a friend who treats Cambodians as if they are servants and somehow less human then himself. He is arrogant and bossy and every Cambodian other then his wife hates him within minutes after meeting him.Almost ten years ago he sent money to his wife's brother to buy land for him.His wife;s brother totally despises him and will not allow him to enter his property. However he bought the land for his sisters husband and is still holding it for him. There are honest decent Cambodians but you just need to learn to know some decent Cambodians and build a close friendship and develop mutual trust before you get into a relationship. My wife and own property in America in both our names and In Cambodia In her name.My wife;s brother gave us land.Just find a girl that has never been involved with a foreigner and be sure that she loves you rather then your income before you marry. It's possible.I know of plenty of Camobdian girls who would rather marry a foreigner then a Cambodian simply because they are worried that a Cambodian man will be unfaithful and take a second wife. However they don't want to be known to have had sex with a foreigner before marriage.

That’s a lot of deaths in one family. 24 kids to raise! (Over 20 years makes it bearable, but still)

They do look incredibly smug though. Even for lawyers.
