There's quite a lot written online about fixing cars and motos here, and more than a few people have been ripped off by garages in PP.
So, what do you think of this idea?
Would you use a decent, kitted out workshop that is available by the hour for people to work on their own vehicles, be they Dailims or Lexii?
$x per hour for the workshop and tools, + $y for using the hoist/jacks/ramps/pit + $z for disposal of old lubricants/knackered parts, etc, etc. Mostly I'd think this could be used for regular services ie brakes, oil changes, whatever.
The main problems I and others seem to have after finding spare parts is lack of space to work and lack of the correct tools to work with. Perhaps the garage owner could also source parts for a percentage? A lot of manuals are available online these days, so a library could be built up if wanted.
I don't have the funds or space to set up something like this, but perhaps one of the people who already own a garage could look into it? I for one would be very happy with an option like this over the current state of affairs of having my vehicle picked over by thieving locusts whenever I take it to a garage, or of having to find the tools and squeeze around on the floor in a tiny garage to get the job done.
Thoughts anyone?
Workshop space + Tools / Hoist / etc by the hour

x, y, or z.
There's enough posted here and elsewhere about fixing vehicles, so I'm surmising that there's a market. No comebacks for bad work or parts, and no people that don't basically know what they're doing. Peace of mind for the customer that the vehicle hasn't been messed with would be the main point I'd think (not saying that your lads would). Factor in w% for parts supply, whatever for disposal etc...
Punt up a price and see how it floats?

I would rent a hoist and a place to work on my own stuff.
I have not found one shop I would trust in all of Cambodia for cars or trucks. I'm sure there is some good ones but I not been to one yet.
Most the time I have to stand there and watch every thing they do. Most of the work is not that hard or require special training. Just put the same bolts back on the same holes.
And why must the cut up all the wiring? 99% of the time there is nothing wrong with the wire . If they only had a test light they would see the bulb is burnt out or no power the the switch. But this special and so complated tool not one shop has. A $1. test light come on how hard is that to buy and use. You can make one for 2000 reul.
The way to do it is fix cars and also rent out the shop if some one wants to use it.
Get some good air tools and show them how its done.
Some one open up a first class shop with some people who know what they are doing you will make a killing here.

Could run it as a mechanic school too.
Sounds like a winner.

They could never afford you.....unless you meet the local rates.
Buy all the gear and set up a great shop and do all the work yourself so the quality is there.....
Charge out rate?
Expat = $60 per hour?
Bong = $3 per hour + $20 per hour supervision and checking by expat.
You could do "it is fixed or it is free" promotion if you like risk.
Seriously - local people driving $30,000 cars will get a street mechanic to change the oil under a mango tree to save a few dollars.
