Verbal kicking wanted, or info on Keeway Superlight 200
Late 60s early 70s Cota, mint (restored) with a black-japanned exhaust right through from the cylinder. Sounds like you'd like it.

Found 1 pic on Baidu. I think I'd put that next to the sofa and find something not so nice to kick around on the dirty streets of PP.
Does that mean that Italians still make Benelli bikes in Italy? What about the ones here - made in China?zerotwosixty wrote:Benelli is now part of motor Group Qianjiang, which is a corporation located in Wenling, southeast China. Benelli Q.J. is located in Pesaro where the previous proprietors based the facilities, keeping the whole workforce previously working at Benelli S.p.A.

I can't see pics, but since you mentioned Urals I'd guess BMW copy with a sidecar. They were actually made in China up to 1975. Chang Jiang, 750cc 30hp. I saw 1 here, They have clubs in the northeast around Beijing. Many of them are being shipped to the US to collectors.

Chuangt2u, I think it means they kept their old staff on at the old factory and that's where they make the bigger sportbikes. We can only guess. That was from the Benelli wiki and it didn't explain further.

Found word of a manufacturing point in China for Keeway and an assembly plant in Malaysia for Keeway and Benelli.
This spource says that all of the European market for Keeway is supplied with Chinese made bikes.

http://www.zerotohundred.com/2012/auto- ... -OjEPnI9-4Benelli Keeway Motorcycles (BKM) Sdn Bhd, along with their partner – QianJiang Group of China (QJ), has launched two brands here in Malaysia ...
Keeway motorcycles has been well established in Europe for the last 13 years, with their exports reaching more than 100 countries including North and South America, Central and South East Asia and now here in Malaysia. Their main products ranges from 50cc scooters to 600cc motorcycles as well as All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATVs) and some electric vehicles; all of which are manufactured in Wenling, China.
Benelli on the other hand, is one of Italy’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers, having been established in 1911 in Pesaro, Italy; only to be acquired and subsequently renamed by the QianJing Group in 2005 to Benelli Q.J.
...
Benelli Keeway Motorcycles (BKM) Sdn Bhd was established in November of 2010 and has been awarded a licence allowing the Malaysian company to exclusively assemble motorcycles as well as ATVs from both Keeway and Benelli which possesses an engine capacity of 200cc and above, right here in Malaysia – all thanks to their 28,000 square feet assembly plant located in Bukit Beruntung.

According to this not made in China.
In 2005 a large Chinese interest, Group Qianjiang, purchased Benelli, but left the bike company largely intact and in its original hometown of Pesaro, Italy.
According to Ken Oleson, sales manager at Benelli America, Qianjiang has big plans for Benelli. “Benelli was making about 2,000 bikes worldwide, but the parent company, QJ of China, has invested $26 million to update and improve the factory and R&D. They are hoping to get to approx. 7-10,000 units produced annually,” he said. And to stave off fears that the Italian bikes will be coming with a “Made in China” sticker, Oleson informs us “Benelli motorcycles are completely made in Italy at the Pesaro factory, using as many Italian-made parts as they can.”

Looks that way.
So the TX and Superlight here are probably made in China.
Is Benelli's name being used to bolster the Keeway brand?
Btw, there are also 125cc variants of both the TX and Superlight available in the UK - check Autotrader.co.uk.

The mrs won't allow me to buy 2nd hand and I'm not flush enough to afford an import crf.
As I've said on another thread, now junior is bigger, I got the itch to play on bigger boys bikes again.

For the price it doesn't seem too bad. I test rode one after they opened up and it felt alright. Considered purchasing one. Construction quality isn't the same as Japanese bikes (especially in terms of cosmetics), but then again, even the Thai made CRFs aren't like the Japanese made models. Skinny swingarms, cheaper plastics/steel/aluminum etc. The Keeway felt smooth though and comfy seat. What's the price again? Like $2200? That's not bad, though any bike bought brand new will lose around 30% right after you leave the dealership.
