Wow check out the new E-Class automatic lane changing tech.
Probably advise to shut that off, if driving here in Cambodia.

Wow, those Ozzie cops are riding nice. Guess the real Mad Max will be driving a Mercedes then.

So many CLKs for sale in Australia but I think values will say as they are. An early 2000 coupe from about 8k to a convertible about 15k. Convertibles in rare colors like green and red are sought after. Far too many Mercs are silver and they age quickly in that color.
Did Bubble head really think that 440 people would queue up to buy an old Merc? Time you went home son.

Who said anything about people queuing up? I wanted to sell it and I did, what's your problem?
If you don't mind my asking, Bubble, how much did you sell it for?Bubble T wrote:Who said anything about people queuing up? I wanted to sell it and I did, what's your problem?
I was pretty tempted but am more or less sworn off the roads now.
whats the price of a 2003ish mercedes with nice interior in PP?
one problem of mercedes here is that they are mostly black or dark, including interiors. they get so bloody hot. also ac arent the strongest.

ACs that aren't blowing cold are usually a sign the Khmers have bodged it with non OEM parts. We added new sensors, gas, compressor and evaporator for around $800.
@Pablo - clever by Mercedes Benz Australia, although it would have been a direct sale through AG in Stuttgart, MBA will have got the service and police conversion contracts. Government custom is the best as they will always come in for scheduled service. However, I reckon the Spring Street bureaucrats may have a heart attack looking at the service bill versus their old SS or XR8 workhorses.
Haha - my money’s on Playboy
in italy i can get them for 5k in good condition, i think because of taxation (none on purchase but plenty yearly on ownership) mercedes and bmw in italy get very cheap very fast.
The AC in my Merc was freezing, it's the coldest I have ever had in a car.
What is wrong with buying diesel Mercedes in Cambodia and why avoid one that's had aToyota Prado engine inserted in?
I know a guy in PP who has had one stuck in his (S class I think) and it's very frugal, if a little noisy!

1. Depends what model diesel Merc it is. Some are better than others. 80s Merc diesels are pigs but hugely reliable. 90s w140 diesels are just pigs.YaTingPom wrote:What is wrong with buying diesel Mercedes in Cambodia and why avoid one that's had aToyota Prado engine inserted in?

2. Modern Merc diesels cannot run on Cambodian fuel efficiently without the particulate filter removed. To my knowledge the dealer does not retail diesels currently in Cambodia.
3. I had a S-Class / Nissan diesel for a laugh - just don't. It's not funny (the bush mechanic engineering that went in to it was quite amazing though).

If you want something to run around town, why not offer him $1000 and see how you go? Those 'hybrids' are extremely hard to shift and Khmers at that end of the market are not stupid. To give you an idea, I offed mine for $450 (albeit much poorer condition than the one in the pic).YaTingPom wrote:Like this one?Petrol Head wrote:1. Depends what model diesel Merc it is. What about the E300?
Keep in mind that heavy traffic (always seems to be issues with the cooling system on bush mechanic jobs) and short province jaunts will likely end it pretty quickly, but then again, for $1000 she doesn't owe you a lot.

Don't tempt me!
Years ago I ran a succession of diesel cars on vegetabe oil, both new and old (SVO and WVO), using two tank systems and direct into the tank (Mercedes 190D) and was thinking about doing the same here. That beast Merc would be perfect!
Hmm, do I need a massive diesel luxo barge that looks like it's from Syria?
(Oh, and I am in SHV not PP)
