The Mercedes-Benz Thread

Whether you've got a Tico or a Lexus, a Dailim or a Harley, this is the forum to discuss transport in Cambodia. Where to buy it, how much to pay and what to do when the wheels fall off.

Very firm and reminds the driver of a sports bike!
Still looks like a girls car though.(I said that not them)

Those two Mercs pictured. On closer inspection I like the older one but the new one looks like a VW Passat.

Mercedes lost their way in 97 then again in 07.

^ I caned one round the neighborhood and I tell you what - with a proper manual and relatively light weight, it's like the M3s of yore. It's also about as much performance as the Everyman wants or needs in the urban grind setting.

Reckon they'll be collectors items one day.

Ps the C207 resembling a Passat CC !? How very dare you!

They do initially look alike, but on closer examination the VW is very boxy compared to the Merc which has a much more refined design when you look at the detail. Don't get me wrong though, I'd be quite happy with either. 8-)

On a car related note...

Seems the four door version has very similar door dimensions!

That c207 is pornography - I'm not sure how it got past the mods.

 Porn!

I had a 2013 E class (W212 - pretty much the same front as that) but I preferred the rear end more.
Still thought the W211 was better quality though.

I do like being validated - this is what the kids are into in 2017, your Lordship.

Keep in mind:-

a) 'tis is a bored and stroked version of the same inline-6 that powered my little rocket ship back in the day. I distinctly remember it even cracked your cold British exterior. Just imagine the possibilities.

b) I owned an E39 M5 for a period - and as much as I wanted to love it - that FUCKING Vanos. A ballsack lane hipster would be tougher. By contrast I piloted that allegedly most 'fragile' of Mercs - the w220 - to Pol Pot's resting place in 36 degree heat FFS.
