Long shot I know but anyone come across a decent mechanic that you would let loose on an Audi S6?
Or decent independent mechanic familiar with German motors?

Tempting as fuck, but the first question you have to ask yourself is whether it can run on the local fuel. A quick peruse of Audi forums will answer this question. When I left, you were lucky to get EU4 locally.
Not sure what the age is, but you'll struggle with even 10 year old S6s on the shitty local stuff. Constant misfires are the result. Frustrating and expensive.
The other issues are:
1. Audis, compared to Mercedes, are very rare in Phnom Penh still. So parts supply locally is a problem.
2. If something does go bang, you'll likely have to consult the official dealer, or possibly VW or Porsche, depending. They'll all hit you up for a 35% margin on parts and a 50% margin on labour.
3. Khmer mechanics, even those familiar with other Germans, by in large, are not familiar with Audis.
4. Can't recall if the infamous DSG was fitted to S6s, but if so, run away.
If it's cheap, by all means go ahead but be prepared to drive it into the ground.

Petrol Head - it's cheap alright 1k for a 2002 3litre with 175k on it but some as yet undiagnosed engine issue but could be serious from description of it knocking. Bodywork looks fine with few minor issues that easily fixed. In the state's tho. Can get an engine in Germany with less than 100k on it for 4500 euros. Tempting when look at cost of newer vehicles here. But if no mechanics to install and fix any niggling issues bit of a risk. Hmmm.

Are you sure the S6 came with a 3 litre engine? I did a search and could only see the C5 S6 with a 40 valve 4.2 V8, also used in:Just Robbed wrote:Petrol Head - it's cheap alright 1k for a 2002 3litre with 175k on it but some as yet undiagnosed engine issue but could be serious from description of it knocking. Audi C5 A6 (ARS: 99-00, ASG: 00-04), Audi D2 A8 (AUX: 99-01, AWN: 01-02), Audi C5 S6 (AQJ: 99-01, ANK: 01-04), Audi D2 S8 (AQH: 05/99-02/01, AVP: 09/00-09/02.
Very advanced engine for the time. Handbook recommends 98 RON/ROZ (93 AKI) EuroSuperPlus (premium) unleaded.
So you've 2 problems:
1. The engine is shared by very few Audis existent in Cambodia. Means very few parts.
2. Total's Excellium (which is the best local fuel going) is only rated at 95 RON to the best of my knowledge.
Hey, at least there is no DSG tranny!

Reminds me of an old saying. Audi, the cowboy's car.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
