Car 'notax'
Browsing Khmer24 and have found a few cars being sold much cheaper than I would have expected. They are labelled as 'notax'.
I presume this means no import tax paid and any buyer needs to sort this out. Is this correct?
For example:
https://www.khmer24.com/range-vogue-07u ... 43636.html
https://www.khmer24.com/range-sport-09u ... 17081.html
Any idea how much the tax would be on a car like this?
Or, could an NGO or foreign diplomat buy this and sort out NGO/diplomatic plates without having to pay the tax?

Either solen or no import tax paid.
They may have been diplomatic, military or NGO cars already. Why would they want to buy when they can import them themselves?
It will cost a shit load of money, up to 120% more than the car is worth to tax it.

So, could an NGO get this registered with NGO plates without the need to pay tax?

They don't need a Range Rover - they need transport, transport which is robust enough to manage roads off the beaten track.YaTingPom wrote:No idea.
Why would an NGO need a Range Rover?
Unless you think NGO staff should walk from
PP to visit rural projects???
I'd suggest potentially getting a '07 Range Rover cheaper than an '02 Highlander is decent use of funds.
In Australia there is a saying that goes something like "If you go into the bush and want to come out again go in a Landcruiser"
The only capable reliable Land Rovers are Defenders.
Also, I would hate to think how much they are to get repaired here. Is there even a dealer?
And another thing. Why has it got plates on but supposedly no tax. Seems a bit iffy to me.

The fact that it is publicly advertised made me think that there maybe could be some legit reason for it - dunno what that could be.
One idea that crossed my mind maybe it was an ex NGO/diplomatic vehicle which had its plates transferred - I don't know if that is even possible.
Then where did the normal plates come from it sprots now?
Never underestimate stupid.

the tax can be quite cheap depending on year of production and engine size.
but for your 07 4.4L engine Vogue it will be a steep 35.000$ in taxes

My real interest was if it could be bought for an NGO and registered with NGO plates without paying the tax.
No one seems to know though.
You can buy it with the NGO plates legally only as another NGO.
I think that you could legally "lease" it from the NGO for something like 50years and it would be legal as NGO can lease assets as long as the revenue stays with the NGO and it is not pocketed by a private individual. However I am not familiar with the legal framework for car leases in Cambodia nor sure if it would be a viable solution but you could look into it.
