what if i wanna buy a 2007 porsche cayman
So i wanna buy a 2007 porsche cayman 2.7L engine from the US to Cambodia? the price at the US is 14,500 what would the total price be after taxes, import fees, logistics?
Completely impractical, spend your money on a 2nd hand car already imported & taxes paid - various other threads on the topic, but a Lexus/Toyota/Honda SUV, etc are the way to go generally.

I'm no expert on car prices but that is extremely low for that year and model and would indicate that it is a complete junker that has been run into the ground. Proper spares and service for Porsches doesn't come cheap, least of all in Cambodia. None of that really matters though, because no matter what condition the car is in you are going to be hit with import taxes which go by displacement, luxury car or not, German or not etc and are all compounded so along with shipping costs your car is going to cost a whole lot more than you might expect. I'd be quite happy for anyone else to chime in and tell that it's otherwise, that's just my understanding.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
As of October last year, based on year and engine size, the import tax would have been around 19k. It might have gone up since but I'm not sure whether new rates have already applied.
That plus repair issues for a non standard vehicle..not a good idea.

No offence, but is a Porsche Cayman really a suitable car for here?
Is it even a decent car for anywhere?
I have just read some reviews, and frankly, they're not flattering.
Get an Audi or whatever, contact Lexus Schmexus, tell him about what you want, and take it from there. But I doubt he'd recommend a Cayman for Cambodia.
Guy near me has a Mustang, nice car, or seems to be.

From Texas its 23.500$ all included to PP turn key with the new tax transport cost and other fees.
So you will end up having paid 14.500+23.500=38.000$ for this car.
I don't know if it's good or bad compared to cambodian market prices.

I can definitely confirm that the "whatever" choice you give here is by far the more preferable of the two. Worst car I ever bought (Audi Q7), and I've bought some shite in my years ... the Porsche I still own though, even though it's done 100 miles in 10 years. #FutureBarnFindvladimir wrote:Get an Audi or whatever

I’d contact Tech Srun or one of the other importers and see what they could do for you; they obviously already have the connections.

Didn’t Jeremy Clarkson call it the “Porsche Gayman”?

Aren’t the custom clearing companies somehow helping to ease the bill anymore?jackrossi wrote:So you will end up having paid 14.500+23.500=38.000$ for this car.

My two USA sports car imports license cards were issued with wrong specs for HP, same for friend’s that also were individually imported.
Can’t say about my Porsche as I bought it here but for the Subaru which I bought 10 years ago in USA for 30k, I ended paying 13.5k of taxes, way lower than I expected.
Considering accumulated savings on insurance compare to the West, that wasn’t so bad of a mark up after all.

Now import duties increased considerably and old tricks don't work anymore. Like filling the car full of spares to save on import duties. The tax sheets are public nowdays and unless you are a top guy there is little to do.
If you import a car completely dismantled you can pay about half the tax but I am not sure how the registration process works after if it is a used car.
10 years ago things where very different.
