I'd say I'm a pretty okay biker but on a very deep sandy highway, three fat bitches on a vespa (no helmets suddenly pull in front of you (no mirror or signals). even if i cud mimic ABS, i wudn't have stopped in time or got round them. Just locked up and went down.
Think a weak drum may have done better. we had a BIG front/rear tyre kiss before i was thrown off, guess their weight and lower centre of gravity kept them on whilst i went down.
BTW - they cudn't sue me as non were wearing helmets and there were 3 on a bike. both of those automatically excludes you from compemsation in VN.
Sandy as fuck where i live

Yeah, especially in the first 2 Paris to Dakar rallies and the 1977 500cc World Motocross Championship.
Not everyone rides Dakar rallies or World Motocross on a regular basis. Do you?
Anyhoo. Stupid.
I was referencing the silly prices they go for, much like the Escorts, which actually are also crap.

Well, if I was going to ride from Sydney to Perth tomorrow I would choose an XT500, as far as reliability and fixability they just cannot be beaten. Maybe drop a tooth or 2 on the back sprocket.

Another extremely reliable bike was the Honda CX500, Bought one with 100,000 miles on the clock thinking it will keep me going for a couple of weeks. I put 300,000 miles on it and sold it for the same price i bought it for. Was not sporty or a particularly good handler but incredibly reliable, New cam chain every 50,000 miles an that was about it.
