Greetings AAll
I need to design ( and commission ) a simple MS Access database in order to crunch a few`numbers. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Access and even less about computer databases. I thought there might be someone on this board with the advanced computer skills that I sadly do not posses. If there is, then I would be happy to pay you a (modest, moderate , appropriate ) fee to design this db for me. If you think you have the skills I need then please send me a private message - here at my khmer 440 account - or to my private email which is [email protected]

Help with Access
Maybe, but I am prepared to pay someone, who has already done his or her time watching youtube and developing their access skills, to do this programming task for me. So if anyone out there is interested and has some semblance of access like skills , then please send an email to [email protected]
If you're purely crunching numbers, surely Excel is the way to go?

It depends what you want to do & who is going to do it longer term.
As Spigzy suggests Excel is an alternative, unless you want to build a longer term system that is user 'idiot proof'.
I could do for you, for fun, no payment, as I have built Commercial systems in my working life, but am now retired.
However you would need to be very certain of exactly what the input & output was before I would touch it with a barge pole.
I am willing to be helpful but I an completely unwilling to teach anyone how to run their business or to change direction at the drop of a hat..

For a simple, single table database don't use Access. It's overpowered and has a learning curve that's not very steep, meaning you have to invest quite some time before you can use it.james777 wrote:Greetings AAll

However, if you need a database with multiple tables (and basically that's a database....) Access is the way to go, because the program offers very powerful tools, including (a kind of) full SQL implementation.
My guess is the first problem is not the use of Access, but the knowledge about databases in general. In my experience the use of Access is very, very difficult if you don't know how databases work.
But giving advise is very hard, since your 'crunching numbers' is not very specific. Doesn't sound like a database job, unless you, for instance, want to know the average age Cambodian girls, born in Takeo province after 1982 get married for the first time. That's a database job....... Crunching numbers when you have a lot of conditions involved.
^ you are confusing the difference between creating & using.
The OP requests that someone builds him a system, not that they teach him to build it.
A correctly built Access database system can be operated by an idiot.
Most system require that a user has a basic understanding of the system.
Access does not - if built correctly with the necessary safeguards in the input forms..

Are you sure? OP says:RIH wrote:^ you are confusing the difference between creating & using.

But then says...
To train someone with an end result of him producing a single database would be a bit of an over the top job..
