Huawei
There seems to be a lot of opinions (and opinionated people!) on here when it comes to phones. So to all the experts, what do you think of Huawei phones? I've seen a few in Sorya at a kiosk going for under $200, which is the most I want to spend. If you think they are trash, what would your choice be for a similar price. This isn't under flagship phones because I am not in that market. I don't need the latest and greatest. I'm looking for one that does what it should well, that's all.

Nice to see a coherent and well considered answer. Anybody with real information care to contribute?

I'm intending to buy one..... Not joking. Have a Nokia WIN8 phone now, all buttons start to break down, just after 1Y warranty ended....

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 gets good reviews and is competitively priced for its segment in the phone market. AnandTech has a good write up of the phone:

Unfortunately, at $299 new, it's out of your stated price range. Anyhow, Huawei's phones have come a long way. I'd say they've reached a point where they're providing fairly good phones at very good prices. I'd stay away from their old models though, if shopping on the second hand market.

I'm using the Huawei P-6 for about a year now, and i am very satisfied with it in fact , also, since i'm not the most careful person on the planet, i dropped it for at least 30 times so far, still doing good ( comes with silicon cover ) , previously i had an HTC , the battery of the Huawei lasts longer... If any specific Q. , feel free to PM me

I have friends who sell cell phones. They speak very highly of Huawei. Rarely are they returned for repair.

My Huawei was performing really slowly. I mean really really mind-numbingly slowly. I cursed it daily. But after a factory reset it was good as new. Wish I'd done it sooner as I struggled with it in that condition for 6 months!
Nokia 105 at around $20 from Aeon mall.
This is a brilliant little telephone.
It's not a toy or games station or internet hub or satellite tracker or videography center or photographic studio or music collection database.
It can communicate with others via SMS and phone calls.
It's a real telephone with a battery that lasts for weeks.

I bought a Oneplus One. Gave my girlfriend my Nexus 5. Prior to that she was using the Huawei. Sorry can not recall the model number. Now she actually likes and used the Huawei more than the Nexus 5. The Huawei holds two sims cards. She told me she has dropped the Huawei countless times. Works well after all that.
