Page-load bug?
Fair enough, but for the record we have absolutely no control over the ads that come up from Google. In fact, blame yourselves for those because they are a reflection of your own browsing history. In Chuang is complaining about animated shoe ads, I suggest he stops surfing shoe fetish porn sites.
Ha.
Covered that one - I keep no browsing history or browser memory cache and regularly restart Firefox - wiping all to a clean slate.
Google will also deliver based on location, which is probably why I'm getting ads tageted at locals.

Google will also target ads by ip address not just by browser cookie.Chuangt2u wrote:Ha.

Panties in a twist, scobz?
Plus one for the statement that adblock on here makes no difference to whether i financially support the site as i never click on ads anyway. Also, adblock is used by me for my streaming pleasure.
On my phone i see the ads. On my laptop, i don't.

Not at all violet.
It was just an observation that it's odd that there is a tiny minority of posters who are so opposed to ads that they will put up with the inconvenience to avoid them, when they are surrounded by ads every single day of their lives in other medium.
This seems to be affecting a tiny handful of posters. The solution is clear: cancel adblock or use adblock on a different browser but if people don't want to do that, so be it. It doesn't affect our revenues at all. I can monitor where the Adsense clicks come from, and it's not from Cambodia where there is a very small supply of ads from Google. The jewel in the crown is in advanced markets like the US, UK, HK and Singapore. We get around 40% of our clicks and 95% of our Adsense revenues from those markets, where this doesn't appear to be an issue at all.
So carry on blocking

I dont find the adds very bothersome and I am happy to support the site anyway.

Scobienz, as I see it the "minority of posters' are not concerned about static ads that support the site but the pop up/drop in variety that are fucking annoying. What posters are peeved about is their machines not running smoothly. For me EasyList is the problem and that reflects on Adblock, not K440. Don't know why you're getting so defensive. Anyway, more important things to worry about...like cricket. BigPhatt's team taking it up the bum

I'm a hater of all ads. Hate them. Dislike advertising.
I block them on FB. I switch off/turn the volume down on TV. I block them from popping up (the worst kind eva) when streaming vids. The only reason the ones at the top of the page on this site have ever slightly bothered me is:
1. when they were showing girly bars and I browsed at work
2. they take up space when I just want to maximise the reading area on my screen. As I don't read the ads, they are redundant to me.
So, rest assured, my dislike of ads crosses all instances in the world, not just on K440.
Now I longer have a twirling cog I'm very happy. The twirling cog was far more annoying than the ads at the top of the page, but I was able to manage both. Happy me.

Same, same with the red K starting to turn after some time, with my FF 36 on LinuxMInt 17.1. And of course with the latest of NoScript, Flashblock, Adblock+, RequestPolicy & Ghostery.
I checked also with FF16 and there it doesn't screw up.
It could be, this is an adblock thing, where the ad does have a 2-stage load. The first stage is not blocked by adblock+, though the second load is. These callback loads always tend to be fragile.
Adblock: It's not only for blocking ads, though (especially when only browsing to not-illegal sites) 9 out of 10 virus infections do come from infected adservers.
And I even block the static K440 ads. I only see the 1-2 words texts of each ad, which is by far sufficient to give them preference when selecting products they offer.
Regarding google: I do block G+, G-analytics, don't use google search (Duckduckgo.com is your better friend) and as such, google would have to present me random junk anyway.
Regarding ad-injection by ISP's: Yes, a lot of ISP's do this and it can screw up page building, not to think of the ad-virus injection risk.
I do seriously think, it is time K440 starts using https across the whole website to prevent this. There is no reason, it's not installed. Certificates do only cost a couple of USD and avoid a lot of hassle.
Typical Adblock+ blocked list for me:
Since G+ and G-Adsense are also blocked, this is neither from that origin. Looks to me, it is dedicated to the K440 scripting (or assumption of things done in the G+ or G-Adsense scripting) ......
Since this starts roughly 30 sec after page load is completed, this suggests a javascript timer firing and trying to do reloading. Sometimes ad/tracking scripting accepts an initial load failure and will try again in 30s - 2Min, or even, it's just a check to verify, if you are still on the page (to "guarantee" towards advertisers, the visitors indeed will have seen their ad). Maybe K440 does have something like that to ?
The latter would match with the back-button stopping to work.
The timer doesn't seem to run on the posting page.
