Exactly, just consider it as a longer cord for your telephone.Beaker wrote:The booster I have doesn't increase speed or give better router connectivity but just extends the range (distance) of what you already have.
It'll make no difference what you use the internet for (VOIP vs streaming).
Routers can transfer data much quicker than the internet company can provide it to us so there should be negligible difference.
Not just like having a longer cord for your phone but more like replacing a phone cord that doesn't have good connection that needs to be jiggled and fused with to get reception replaced with a l much longer cord with excellent connectivity.

The problem with both of our analogies is that you are also still using the original cord.Beaker wrote:Not just like having a longer cord for your phone but more like replacing a phone cord that doesn't have good connection that needs to be jiggled and fused with to get reception replaced with a l much longer cord with excellent connectivity.

So if it is crap then your internet is still going to be crap.
nope, prior to the booster the best download speed was around 20K/s and only in one location now with booster i get over 400 K/s all trough out the house.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:The problem with both of our analogies is that you are also still using the original cord.Beaker wrote:Not just like having a longer cord for your phone but more like replacing a phone cord that doesn't have good connection that needs to be jiggled and fused with to get reception replaced with a l much longer cord with excellent connectivity.

Does nothing to cable to wifi router connection it boosts the signal from router to device. Gives same results as if you get closer to the router with your device it takes the signal and boosts the range and rebroadcasts it.

Oh dear what happened to the thread?
OK scoffer I believe somewhere in thread above your question was answered, however let me clarify based on the device purchased from Aeon.
I live in a 3 floor house (ground floor/2 upper floors). Router is on ground floor, and on first floor I have pretty much full signal and no issues. On top floor I have about 1 to 2 bar (pretty weak signal). When I plug in the device (on top floor) I have full signal and improved connection with no drop out. As earlier poster stated it's like I'm sitting next to the original router on ground floor. I'm using all applications YouTube/Skype and Viber with no issues. Hope this answers your question.

I tend to sleep in the nude. Which isn't a bad thing except for maybe on those long flights.

My only further comment is the device quickly gets hot, so i tend to unplug when not using. However when I plug in my devices connect within a few seconds and it remembers all WiFi configured settings of my network.

OK, I've got the gist of the device.
It will extend the range of the service into "Black Spots"within the house,
It will not improve the service over and above the modem/router that receives the original signal.
Is it complicated to set it up ?
How do you activate it and code in the ISP address etc.
Is this done via a PC or can it be done by phone.
My reason for asking is that my other half has moved rooms, only a short distance perhaps 9-11 meters all up but it now appears that her room is in a black spot with very poor reception.
I'm not in town at the moment and need to understand what needs to be done so I can advise her on what to do to sort out the black spot.
So if you can with confidence recommend a booster, I'll ask her to purchase it and walk her through the set up mode with a bit of assistance from k440 members.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

I notice there was a WiFi booster for sale on [ dare I mention the name ] other forum. But I wouldn't trust those pricks over there, it's probably advertised just to increase their hits.

Can someone explain in simple terms what is involved in the set up process of a WiFi Booster.
Do you have to link it to a pc to load the password code for the WiFi or do you just plug it in and it picks up the closest signal.
I'm guessing you load a password of some sort - but how do you do this ?
Can you do this via a mobile phone. ( ie: can someone with more knowledge than I do it via a mobile phone )
For all the shit stirers out there,
I'm not in country and need to explain the set up process to my other half.
We all know my knowledge of this stuff is limited.
And when you introduce translations problems, well ....,
It might take a bit of time to sort out.
So please speak slowly and if possible link me to on line information that I can take a moment or two to digest.

It is actually a quick job and not difficult but it will be tricky to explain to you for you to then explain to her how to do it.scoffer wrote:Can someone explain in simple terms what is involved in the set up process of a WiFi Booster.

Does she have the kit already?
Best option get her to ask a techy friend to do it - surely she must know someone who is comfortable using a computer. There should be instructions in the box. Or she could call into a local computer shop and ask them to send a guy to do it - won't cost much as it really is a 5 min job.
If none of that works out then PM me and if the address isn't so far away from me I could maybe call past and set it up.
Appreciate that I'm just a random Internet dude so am probably way down on the list but the offer stands.

For fucks sake scoffer, why dont you just contact this guy , https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/genera ... 14213.html
and ask him if he will go to your other halfs house ,,,,, if its in PP,,,, and plug in the wi-fi booster that he has for sale, and see if it improves the signal.
This is how the one I have sets up:Duncan wrote:scoffer wrote:Can someone explain in simple terms what is involved in the set up process of a WiFi Booster.

1. plug it into a power source (phone charger with usb work) with in range of wifi signal
2. go to wifi settings on phone you will see wifi+
3. connect to that network
4. go to phone browser and enter --> usbwifi.cn
5 that starts the settings mode for signal booster then select the wifi network from the list that you want to boost
6. input the wifi password that creates a new wifi connection point
7. then go back to the wifi settings (same settings as #2) and select the newly created wifi connection point
Now the range is extended and you will have wifi boosted siginal. Like i said previously had very poor reception only downstairs standing in window closest to the wifi router (which is at the landlord house) without booster. Now with the booster we have it all over the house upstairs and down.
This is the one I use its about $10.

Re 6 and 7. You might need to clarify that. ...creates a new wifi connection point....same wifi account name as already existed and needed boosting or does it automatically create a new wifi account name?
