Police said that the 33-year-old suspect allegedly beat his mother after he sold his motorbike, spent half the money from the sale and demanded his mother buy him a new moto. The suspect’s mother, a widow, said her son beat her after she said she could not afford the purchase.

Not from the blotter, summarized from the Cambodia Daily.
Two men were arrested for buying a kilo of Marijuana from two elderly farmers in Prey Veng. Chan Sophal, district police chief said: "We arrested the two men, who bought the marijuana for 50,000 riel (about $12.50) after our police got a report from the good people in the district."
"Later on, we investigated and found out the two elderly men were growing marijuana on their farms for the treatment of sick chickens and cows, and we confiscated a total of 8.45 kg."
Mr Sophal added that police decided not to arrest the two aging farmers because they were "too old."
"It is the first time in Peam Ror district that we found two old men were growing marijuana on their farms for treatment of their animals, it is their tradition," adding that they were given stern warnings and were ordered to sign an agreement to stop growing cannabis.
The two motodops who bought the cannabis are being detained at Prey Veng prison ahead of their trial.

A 25-YEAR-OLD man who ate his hunting partner’s dog after it was killed in a monkey attack was shot dead by the canine’s owner with a crossbow last Tuesday. Police said the suspect and the victim were friends who were hunting together in Kratie’s Snuol district. It is understood the suspect shot his friend because he would not help save his dog from being killed in a monkey attack. The victim then took the dead dog home to eat. When the suspect saw this, he fired his crossbow at his friend killing him instantly. Police say the suspect confessed to the crime following his arrest.

Drunk forestry official drives vehicle into wall
A FORESTRY Administration official was seriously injured after crashing his vehicle into a concrete wall on Thursday in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district. The 36 year-old had been drinking before he got behind the wheel, said an eyewitness. He was knocked unconscious in the crash and rushed to hospital.
My major concern relates to the comment " He was knocked unconscious in the crash and rushed to hospital."
Rushed ???, come on - no one in Camb rushes to anywhere.
Most likely, they loaded him in, took off in a hurry to look good and then stopped 1/2 a klick away to go through his pockets as he was still unconscious at the time.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

How common are those remote control motorbike disablers in Cambodia?
If the karaoke girl wanted a motorbike so badly she should have just dated KiR until he bought her one.
