Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricIn my case (pun) It wasn't the beer advertising, it was the devil made me do it.
People who steal from banks get jail. Banks who steal from people get bonuses. You gotta love capitalism!

Come come now, everybody know that Marketing was invented by Satan. Lord Playboy hits the ground running; using Tapatalk on his LG Optimus Black "We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricWow, how did I miss this thread?
I actually saw a hard copy of that license, and found it fishy immediately - for various reasons that should be obvious to any journalist who is able to lay his eyes on it. We'll see how this works out, but it's worth pointing out that such a ban is a much bigger deal for Cambodia Beer than it is for its competitors, because they still need to build up brand awareness. Angkor must be pretty happy about that ban. Encountering such restrictions so soon after a launch isn't ideal. I agree with rob that promos like this cheapen the brand - but that's exactly what the marketing managers at Khmer Breweries are trying to do.
CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restrictionUnfortunately it seems to be what most marketing managers in Cambodia seem to do.
Instead of improving their brand offerings or positioning they all come up with the same idea of lucky draw to win a fan/rice cooker/tv/phone/moto etc. no matter how irrelevant it is to their actual product or long term sales.
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricI actually ended up falling for the Cambodia beer promotion and it tastes way better than the piss poor Angkor beer.

I just bought about $3,000 worth of Cambodia Beer,,,,, no scoopy yet...
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restric
Truth be told, it's my favorite beer here now...hands down. I didn't expect to like it, assumed it would be another shit beer with a new label slapped on it.
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricI agree, it is better than what was previously available--Angkor, Anchor, Tiger, Kingdom. I have been ordering it at any bar that does not have Carlsberg draft.
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricGlad you like it guys. The beer isn't targeted at Khmer elites / expats at all, but it seems that westerners are slowly welcoming it. The guys at KBL still refuse to take this into account when it comes to marketing strategy, but I guess they'll realize sooner or later that there's an interesting market to tap into.
I wish they'd drop the whole nationalistic approach, but I imagine they don't want to fix something that ain't broken. The marketing people at KBL have been literally bombarded with ideas that are way more interesting than another draft / lottery / wedding promo, but I don't think they're ready to take any risks just yet: originality is apparently scary.

Duh! How could it not?! The topic or post you are looking for does not exist.
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restric
From what I have seen and heard of the success they are currently having, especially in the provinces, I think their marketing approach is working just fine. (I wish their was an emoticon to indicate a massive understatement.)
Re: CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restricI've noticed that in the last few months. They banned outdoor advertising of alcohol, but exempted beer. Now there are beer banners everywhere, on walls, plastered across private houses and hanging off fucking trees.
