Siem Reap – An Englishman was found dead in a room of the Angkor Pich Hotel in Siem Reap Province in a case authorities suspect to be a drug injection overdose.
The discovery occurred at 14:30 H, on the 28th December, 2012, in the Vimean Angkor Pich Hotel, Ta Phul Village, Svay Dongkum Commune, Siem Reap Town, Siem Reap Province.
Koat Sophisay, a 24 year old maid at the hotel who made the discovery, stated that, at about 14:50 H of the 28th of December, she had unlocked the door to room 303 of the hotel in order to clean it, when she caught sight of the English occupant sprawled unconscious on his bed. Suspecting something seriously amiss, she contacted authorities who, upon examining the man, confirmed that that he was dead.
Lieutenant-Colonel Chao Maovireah, chief of police from the Siem Reap Provincial Office of Immigration stated that the Englishman has been identified as RAMSAY DOUGLAS SHAW-MACKENZIE, a 23 year old male, holding passport #801060433. The victim also held a Canadian passport, #L1539013.
Authorities at the scene stated that at the time of his discovery, the Englishman had already been dead many hours. In his room was found a quantity of drugs and syringes, along with the addictive drug Ketamine, which the victim had been injecting until 3 syringefuls had produced a fatal overdose បានចាក់ចូលតាមសរសៃយ៉ាងតិច ក៏បីសឺរ៉ាំង ដែលធ្វើឱ្យលើសកំរិតបណ្ដាល ឱ្យជនបរទេសនោះស្លាប់ [better translation needed here]. Authorities refused to speculate further.
Lieutenant-Colonel Chao Maovireah stated that the body of the foreigner was taken to the Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital morgue where it is being temporarily housed while they await word from the victim's family.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. Pharmaceuticals are drugs/medicines that are manufactured and packaged. People abuse them. Oxycontin/Valium/Xanax/Morphine/etc are commonly abused.vladimir wrote:Agreed, but they don't normally package street drugs with the manufacturer's name, package insert and expiry date.Lucky Lucan wrote:People abuse pharmaceuticals as well as street drugs.vladimir wrote:It said 'packaging'. Wouldn't that imply pharmaceutical rather than recreational?
It wouldn't normally be possible to overdose on Ketamine. The medical doses used in anaeshesia are far bigger than anyone could possibly self-administer without becoming unconscious. It's likely that there were other substances or alcohol involved. In his room was found a quantity of drugs and syringes, along with the addictive drug Ketamine, which the victim had been injecting until 3 syringefuls had produced a fatal overdose
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Good guess, Cambod. Special K it was.
That is scary stuff.
*** have never been more wrecked than when *** were on that stuff. Time traveling to a different universe. *** also did it while drinking once and were CERTAIN *** were going to die.
The kid sounds like a professional if he's shooting it up though. I've only known people to snort it (although it's clearly manufactured to shoot).

It's an intramuscular injection, like insulin- just jabbed into any area with a lot of muscle like a butt cheek or thigh. It's not like smack-heads who have to carefully find veins etc.

Maybe he didn't know that.Lucky Lucan wrote:It's an intramuscular injection, like insulin- just jabbed into any area with a lot of muscle like a butt cheek or thigh. It's not like smack-heads who have to carefully find veins etc.

A quantity of drugs......along with.... would suggest there were other substances involved. In his room was found a quantity of drugs and syringes, along with the addictive drug Ketamine

Ketamine can be Injested IM or IV - it's just more common to be injected IM.
There must have been other drugs involved though, as the LD50 (rough amount needed to kill a body) of Ketamine is something like seven Grams. That's why paramedics often use it on people with massive traumatic injuries instead of morphine or a General anastehtic - it's a very benign drug, physically speaking.
I'm sure that even 1/30th of that amount would have had this guy so deep that it would be impossible to re-load and do another shot.

Should the parents of someone who has died be posted here? I assume I can post the same details if anyone else dies here.
Dictated to a slave and sent by carrier pigeon.
It depends on whether they have their own wikipedia page.
